Please explain why this trade offer is so bad to the Sender

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Please explain why this trade offer is so bad to the Sender

Postby lawilt » Fri Apr 15, 2016 8:59 am

Just received a trade offer that I decline stating it was really low. Please give your opinions on it because I a response telling me that it was actually a close offer.

12 team salary cap idp ppr but wr get 1.5 and te get 2

Give: Evans
Get: Sanu, C. West(KC), Chandler Jones, 1.11

In the scoring Evans had 246 last year I believe. C Jones a top 10 de put up like 125. just to show the scoring difference with idp.

Oh and I would be taking back more salary in the deal. Evans has a $15 hit while the players on his side add up to $14 + what the pick cost which I was like $10 I think maybe lil lower

Not close for me either. Evans is way more valuable than that. He may be looking to buy Evans low after an "off" year. Those are nice filler pieces, but I would want someone more solid before moving Evans.

It's close in the senders opinions because it likely adds up to the value of Evans. But the cliche that holds true is 10 dimes don't make a dollar.
Regarding IDP: DL equals TE on offense. What I mean there is DLs, like TEs, have a few top tier guys followed by a bunch of nearly the same producing guys. Comparing the value of a WR to a DL is crazy unless it's Watt for Evans...and even then I pass.

Sanu likely fighting for 3rd WR spot by next year. West=RBBC at best, 3 year backup at worst.

Figured I'd mention I don't own JC so West has even less value to me

If you have to explain why this offer is not close you are wasting your time cause the other owner is clueless. Unless you are wanting to sell Evans just move on from this guy.

If the guy still says he doesn't understand why it's a bad deal, send him an equivalent "couple nickels for a dollar" offer for one of his studs.

I always explain why I decline a trade--unless the trade is ludicrous--think Antonio Brown for Trent Richardson--that kind of ludicrousness.

That being said this trade isn't that "awful". If I sent that offer and it got declined I wouldn't ask for an explanation-- I would understand. BUT--I would guess that the guy who offered that trade might think it was fairly even and he might want an explanation. I have seen much much worse trades declined and someone wanted an explanation why---

The trade itself looks like a combination of 2 things. (1) He has to clear bench space for the upcoming rookie drafts so he (2) offers a lot of "workable" pieces for one key piece.

You don't owe anyone an explanation. Guessing he is using those awesome trade calculators that some people on here are taking about... Lol

I tried a calculator out once to see how accurate it was to my opinions.......I very quickly learned that whatever side of the deal had more pieces won. It could be John Brown and Hurns for Antonio Brown and the calculator would like the two players better than one.
Bottom line: ALWAYS trust the calculators

I find the FBG's dynasty trade value chart to be a very helpful starting point when it comes to evaluating dynasty trades. It puts a ton of value on the top players, which is in line with how most people think on here.

For reference it would have Evans at a 43
Sanu at 1. West at 2. 1.11 at 6. So yeah.... not close. (it doesn't do IDP)

Sounds better than the calculator I tried......but that was years ago and the site is dead now (ffxtreme.com).....so maybe that says something about the product.
