Gordon's value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Gordon's value

Postby cowboysfan » Thu Dec 17, 2015 8:54 am

I know Josh Gordon is a mistake away from flipping burgers (no offense) but where is his value at right now and when is a good time to buy him? I'm sitting here with 1.6 and either 1.11 or 1.12 in all likelihood for the rookie draft. My team 1 in my sig is where I would be looking to add him. I'm thinking about making a run for him this summer during our rookie draft. What should I offer or should I not even think about touching this guy?

Gordon is almost one of those guys who I'd try to get as a throw in in a deal. IOW try not to make it look like he is your primary target.

I traded a 2016 4th for Gordon before the season started.

I offered the 17th pick in the draft for Gordon and that was rejected. Wasn't willing to give up the 11th pick as one relapse and he is worth less in fantasy.
Taking on a full rebuild and yes it is this bad!

I'll never understand why his risk is SOOOOOOO much different than any rookie pick that isn't 1.1 or 1.2. Gordon is tried and proven(wr2-3 at worst if playing).

Exactly my thinking in acquiring him for a late first. He has a far higher upside than who would fall there, and is young as well.

I would try and buy sooner rather than later, the longer there is no bad news about Gordon, the higher his price will rise.

There isn't. People like to live in Magic Christmas Land when it comes to draft picks. Gordon is a stud on the field, and that value is worth the risk, and giving up a dart throw. Haters gonna hate/old white dudeness.

There's no way Gordon's value is comparable to 1.03. I'd much rather have the 1.03.

Regardless of Gordon being a WR1 almost three years ago, you can't be a hater if you prefer to get value that has a safer and more sustainable combination of floor and ceiling than a player who's had off field problems since college and is another mistake away from complete irrelevance. Sure Tyler Boyd or whoever might never have a season as good as Gordon in 2013, but it's to the point that a consistent WR2 with weekly upside can be more valuable than Gordon.

To me it all comes down to the Gordon owner, how long has he owned him, did he deal for him, etc. I'd throw it out there now before he is reinstated in Feb, starts hitting mini camps, OTA's, etc and his value starts to rise. I'd throw out the 1.11 to him now and acquire him.

He's had Gordon for around a year or so. I traded him Gordon last year so he would be trading Gordon back to me if he agrees. I'm going to offer the late 1st and see what happens.

This is sooooo true. Guy in my league that has him wouldn't sell for less than a high first as he believes he's a stud and he's been holding for over a year now.

Yup, and like the AlPage guy said I'd offer the 1.11 or 1.12 for him but not much else considering his perceived market value right now.

Or wait until rookie fever jumps off and then give up a 2nd for him 8-)
