DGB for Golden Tate (I own Calvin)?

Postby AugieFootball50 » Wed Aug 12, 2015 9:41 am

This is for team 2 in signature.... Original offer was for DGB/T-Rich but I think owner doesn't even care about T-Rich so no point to include him in trade/post... I feel this would give me a good "handcuff" for Calvin since we saw how Golden was able to put up WR1 numbers when Johnson was out last year. This trade IS on the table.

Thoughts? DGB was the WR30 selected, and Tate was the WR26. It sounds like people think DGB has the "upside" but would getting Golden be a better roster addition since I have large stock in Calvin? I understand WR2 is still a need for me but I'm not sure how to fill that right now without deviating from my original strategy of picking up a bunch of average WRs (Garcon, Cruz, Roddy, Torrey Smith, John Brown, etc.). Keenan Allen owner does not want to move him so as of right now it seems this is my best plan till I can maybe buy a guy like Andre Johnson or Brandon Marshall mid season if they are performing well.

Thanks in advance.

It is basically DGB for Tate.

I would personally take Tate and I'm not big on him.

Just because I'm not sure about DGB.

I wouldn't even counter that, but I'm bigger on Tate than many.

Uum...he is the one looking to consolidate by buying Golden. I think Golden is way overrated, BUT you have to give him credit and respect for what he did when Calvin was out. To be honest he really should only have value to the Calvin owner in case of injury. His numbers with Calvin in the lineup are fairly terrible. DGB for me, but it should be Tate for you if that makes sense.

Overall value / upside leans to DGB but you think since I own Calvin it is a solid move?

I like DGB personally, but I understand wanting Tate as a Calvin handcuff of sorts. I think T-Rich makes the deal worse, honestly, but it's worth a shot since he obviously passed on DGB when he picked Tate anyways.

  could you imagine seeing this 2 years ago when TRich was the second coming and DGB was throught to be the next Calvin Johnson, while Golden Tate was near waiver wire fodder in Seattle. This thread is a prime example of how quickly things can change in the NFL lol

As long as you don't need him to produce much with Calvin in the lineup. The WR1 for Detroit has a ton of value if Calvin misses some time which is always possible. I just don't want to need to rely on Tate to produce when he is playing second fiddle to Calvin amd especially with a pass catching back like AA now.

I don't think an objective assessment of his performance even remotely supports this assertion.

Tell me about it. So much for the second coming. Looks like he's headed out of the league in short order. I remember drafting him top 5 in one of my start ups. I had offers for DT or Dez plus a 1st round pick in both offers. Turned down both offers oops.

I am guessing you are a big Tate guy (probably a big Floyd guy as well) as a Notre Dame fan, but I am being very objective. In my 0.5 PPR, Tate averaged 21.88 pts for weeks 4-8 (when Calvin was either out or playing decoy) and he averaged 10.47 pts for the other 11 games where Calvin was healthy.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but I doubt it. Those numbers put him as a low WR3 when Calvin is healthy. It sounds like you might be the one who needs some objectivity, no offense. Is Tate a good player...obviously he is, but the passing offense goes thru Calvin and Tate gets the scraps as second fiddle in that offense.

I think our disagreement is over the use of the word "terrible."
