Jordan Matthews for Melvin Gordon

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jordan Matthews for Melvin Gordon

Postby jdomer2403 » Thu Aug 06, 2015 11:38 am

Who is the better short and long term player? Who has the most upside? Offer for Matthews for my Gordon.

I'm an Eagle fan, but would take Gordon. In their offense a lot of people touch the ball and who knows if Jordan will be the #1. I think he will, but who really knows. On the flip side, Gordon looks like a once in a decade type back or at least the best talent since AP. No injury concerns, a ridiculous YPC in college and a body type to be a workhorse back. Just my 2 cents, but I'm a huge Gordon believer.

JMatt- and it's not close for me.
I'll take the hard working stud in a high powered offence in a position that will provide many years over the rook that has not shown the ability to protect the QB at the NFL level.

I would hold onto Gordon. You are much thinner at RB than WR, and AP is in the twilight of his career. In a vacuum, their values are similar, but for your team, Gordon is more valuable.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

I don't agree with much of this.
Well, I guess I agree, but this completely discounts everything about Gordon while putting Matthews good traits up on a pedestal.
I would take Gordon but it's pretty dang close imo

I read a lot on here how WR's are just simply more valuable, do to the lifespan they can play in the NFL. BUT, there are beginning to be a lot of really good WR's that can put up points consistently.

It's getting harder and harder to get a top RB. So, I may go against the flow, but RB's to me might be more valuable to own. In my league I can't trade 3 first for a top 10 RB, not a chance...

I'd take Gordon and hope he lives up to expectations and take fliers on all the young WR's with potential IMO

Give me Gordon. He's got top 5 RB potential IMO. Matthews doesn't sniff the top 10 WRs given the amount of WRs emerging over the last couple of years(+?). It's easier to replace a Matthews than it is a Gordon- obviously that statement is banking on both being successful.

A RB who went #15 overall vs a WR who went in the second round. Gordon easily.

Short term, probably Matthews because he is more established. Long term, Gordon because he is a better player. The lifespan of the WR is offset by the scarcity of RBs at the moment. I take Gordon.

I'd take Gordon, then immediately flip him for a different RB because Wisconsin RBs are terrible pros. I'm a Badger fan, trust me.

(Only somewhat joking, but yeah, Gordon's the better asset right now.)
