JSN Offer

Postby 95dent » Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:54 pm

I’ve been offered Puka and Jake Ferguson for my JSN.

I own Kupp already.

How close is this?

Both Nacua and Ferguson have been solid this year, but I like JSN as a prospect over either. I don't think there is enough here to feel comfortable with the move long term, but I may be alone of that. The pair is better now than JSN, but still a pass.

unless i'm stuck and need to win now, i always like to look at long term and JSN is it for me. Also trotting out the top two receivers on the same team week in and week out is dangerous.

I'd take Puka and Ferguson for JSN, especially if I needed a TE.

I'm on the Puka/Ferguson side. I think Puka vs. JSN is pretty close and Ferguson is a more than serviceable TE.

Not criticizing anyone, just making an observation. Maybe I'm taking it a little personally, I admit.

In a different thread folks piled on after I said I thought the safe play was LaPorta over Bowers but that I'd have a hard time choosing. The comment was that it was the "definition of insanity" to do anything but take the proven player.

Why does that logic not apply equally to JSN vs. Puka? As of right now Puka is the #9 WR in total points in PPR. He's proven it as much as LaPorta. And frankly JSN hasn't proven much in the NFL IMO.

There's something about JSN that seems to get special treatment in FF. The fact that he didn't play his final year (more or less) is actually used to his advantage because it's the excuse for why he fell to the 20's in the NFL draft. I said this off-season that I thought for a contender that I'd rather have Addison - this was a nearly as an unpopular POV as my Bowers is close in value to LaPorta comment. Right now I'm taking Puka, Dell and Addison over JSN in some order.

I'm guessing folks will say something about draft capital and Puka going in the fifth round or whatever. Heading that off at the pass - LaPorta has good, not great draft capital esp. as a TE. Trust me Bowers is going before the early 2nd in the NFL draft.

Anyway - just pointing out some inconsistencies in how we are dealing with different players/prospects. Worth thinking about.

Kudos to this post... I think that when you have a player succeeding that was a back end draft pick, alot of people consider it a "nice story" but don't believe that the run will continue. JSN is a "blue-chipper" so they will always get a little extra special treatment. for the peeps that can 100% put aside draft pedigree, the answer is simple... Puka. I think i fall somewhere in the middle of these two groups...it's my curse.

Thanks for that.

I think you're right - it's the draft capital argument. However even that we selectively apply. QJ isn't getting the JSN bump! And again, Bowers is going to have better draft capital than any player we are discussing.

Edit: and let me add, this isn't about JSN particularly. It's about how we are inconsistent as a group in how we approach this stuff.

I agree it's the draft-capital argument. Also it's the fact that all the off-season fantasy hype was like propaganda programming our minds into believing (not thinking but believing) certain guys are inherently "better" than other players.

It's hard to shift that mindset when a Puka or Dell starts sprinting ahead of supposed better players like JSN and Drake. But it makes it easier to steal those players from owners who are slow to accept the truth.
