Just sold Akers for Saquon and my mouth nearly fell off

i prefer akers here as well. But, I have had Barkley on my two teams the last two years...and I am done with him.

I think time will tell. Like the idea of getting younger for Barkley, especially with unknown coach and GM and Barkley on final year (UFA in 2023 I think) of his contract.

Akers is obviously not without risk. Coming back from Achilles, and no guarantees he isn't in a 60-40 time share in backfield with Sony Michel and others and that Rams line is not what it used to be. Whitworth likely done after this year so big hole at tackle and tapped out cap wise with no draft capital to reload.

Its a gamble. Can see both sides of argument. Always great discussion and fascinating to hear and see opinions for both sides.

I am sure OP was tired of Barkley and Giants, so well done getting solid return for Barkley with a home run swing in Akers.

I'm more concerned about akers's hands now than his Achilles.

The Rams team build is a great point - aging team, no draft capital, tight cap space. The OL in LA may be worse than the NYG next season if the NYG draft some early OL in 2022.

Barkely stated he rehabbed and did not train to his standards during the 2021 offseason. This offseason may be much different for Barkley and I expect a turnaround in 2022.

The Akers return is absolutely amazing and he looks very quick and getting receptions downfield - drool worthy. He had some nice runs called back which affects his overall production and has a few fumbles (likely due to lack of playing time in 2021).

Overall this is a Barkley 50.1% to Akers 49.9% - tight race! Barkley may be a good buy right now due to frustrated owners and Akers may be a good sell due to the hype.

Wow. I can't see how. Akers looked bad, and Barkley has always been the far superior talent. Akers isn't worth a first for me at this point, I'd still pay that for Barkley. To each their own, I guess. I thought those who would rank Akers higher than Barkley might reconsider after seeing Akers look so bad. Is it due to the complete lack of belief in Barkley at this point, and the Giants?

I also moved on from barkley as the barkley hype started and flipped him for 2x1sts and a 2nd.

Really didn't want to bet on either but barkley looks like the superior player and situation here.

What changed in the offseason for you? Looks like you were still high on him after the playoff games where he did basically nothing.

Reports that saquon was looking better, nyg didn't bring on any significant RB, talking up saquon in receiving game. Vs sticking with the 2 backs in lar.

Additionally, this is more of having their values swapped a bit from Akers being late first and Barkley being early second values to Barkley being the late first and Akers being a second rounder.

Sorry., but I've been bookmarking in my brain the Akers takes over the last few off seasons. It may be my most adamant, consistent take ever, in fact, I am pretty sure it is....so yes, I admit this is a victory lap post, of an exhausting dialogue about this guy with so many for over a year now.

Want to be clear. not advice at this point, but man, this shows how sometimes values shift drastically, and well, often times, it's better to take the guy who was actually elite, and not a guy who flashed and had a "good situation". ACL's so often take a full football year (meaning more than a calendar year) to really get better, factoring in the mental aspect of a guy trusting his body the way he once did. Achilles, well, they are far worse. Combine that with the fact SB was such a superior talent to begin with, and we have this result.
