Replacement for Watson

Postby CGW » Mon Apr 19, 2021 6:32 am

Team 1. Had planned on being a favorite for this year, using most of my draft capital in 21 and 22.
I'm now preparing for Watson to miss some or all of this year.

I have been shopping Zeke hoping to get enough return to get me a QB, but offers have been trash.

Should I go after Dalton, Tyrod with the 2.04? Seems like a pretty brutal return, but beggars cant be choosers. Or should I just roll with cousins and see what happens.

Brady might be had from the right owner as well.

Of course I'd probably wait until after the NFL draft to see who falls where. That pick will be more attractive the closer to your draft it is

Rough situation. I would probably wait it out a bit if those are your best options, and at least see what the teams with stopgap options do in the draft. I've been wondering if JG is a good cheap buy right now, with the hope he gets moved to NE once the niners take Fields, or that he gets a full year as a starter if they take Lance. But there's some risk there that you just stepped under a falling knife.
How hot are QBs typically in this league? Would you not be able to buy Tyrod or Dalton for 2.04 later once Watson's situation is cleared up?
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I would hold off until post NFL draft just in case you buy someone who is being replaced via the draft. Your team is in solid shape overall and another QB is key, but I would be looking a touch higher than Taylor or Dalton depending on price. Many owners seem down on: Ryan, Goff, some on Stafford and Brady was a good call based on age depending on what kind of build he is on currently. Hanging tight might be the best option now until the draft is complete.

Piling on... offer that 2.04 or some picks for:
Stafford
Wentz
Brady
Ryan (although there is risk if they draft a QB)
Goff (although there is risk if they draft a QB)
Fitz
Jameis (risk if he loses job to
Big Ben

Tyrod or Dalton for 2.04 may be the path of least resistance if owners aren't cooperating on others. It's fair in SF.

It's a 6pt TD superflex league. The majority of QBs listed above are worth significantly more than the 2.04.

Realistically the options are tyrod, dalton, fitz, big ben. The rest of the QBs in this type of format are going to require more than 2.04 or arent available (darnold, goff, carr, winston)

I'd go after Dalton since you have Mitch, atleast you have the starter for an NFL team locked in
