Gurley/pettis for Hopkins?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Gurley/pettis for Hopkins?

Postby cd6696 » Wed Jun 26, 2019 11:19 pm

Which side? 16 team

Hopkins seems more of the sure thing. Is Pettis enough to fill in injury concerns of Gurleys knee? If not Pettis, I’ve also been offered Kylar Murray instead.

I’m not so worried about team need at the moment. There will be plenty of trades before week 1

Hopkins by miles right now in terms of value. Gurley is fading fast in most circles. Pettis does nothing in this conversation currently.

There values are different by basically a round in ADP. I could easily see the Gurley side winning this a year from now, and I'm not overly concerned with Gurley's knee. However I'd want a better piece than Pettis added, personally. Hopkins is safe, unless he suffers another concussion, at which point, who knows. One more could end his career, which nobody seems to talk about. He's had at least 4 for sure, so it's something to consider, when talking about injuries. Obviously the Gurley situation is more of a concern right now, though. I think Gurley is a guy to buy, but not giving up a guy like Hopkins unless you get a better piece on top over Pettis.

The thing with Gurley is, IF you trade for him, you have to be prepared to ride him out. He just doesn't hold the trade value he did five months ago, where everyone in the league would love to have him. I personally have traded for Gurley in 2 leagues, but I plan on him being on my roster until he retires, at this point, unless his value rises again. Just remember that he's not a hot commodity right now, so you will probably not get the value you want if you decide to try and move him.

Hopkins appears to have only suffered two concussions. This site tracks NFL and pre-NFL injuries, so concussions weren't a thing for him in college.

You might be thinking about Adams, who has had three.

This is incorrect. He had one in college, however perhaps because it wasn't sports related, it wasn't included. He had one he suffered in a car accident. Perhaps it's only 3 for Hopkins.

If this offer is on the table, take Hopkins easily here. This puts all the Gurley concern on a different team and you get an elite asset.
