BestBall10 Midway Roster Review
ArrylT wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2019 12:07 pm My MFL10 Rosters

Team I - February
Classic (100, 5)
4H Slow Draft
Draft spot - 8

QB - Carson Wentz, Jameis Winston, Josh Rosen

RB - Royce Freeman, Damien Harris, TJ Yeldon, D'Onta Foreman, Miles Sanders, Doug Martin, Carlos Hyde

WR - Juju Smith-Schuster, Mike Evans, Keenan Allen, Brandin Cooks, Corey Davis, Sammy Watkins

TE - Mark Andrews, CJ Uzomah

TD - Philadelphia, Carolina

Thoughts on my team:

Unlike last year where I tried a variety of strategies, this year I decided to go with 1 strategy and keep repeating that throughout the year. The Zero RB strategy - in that you wait on RB and add a volume later in the draft. So this time, like all the other ones, will be WR heavy.

It can be risky, especially early in the year - as can be seen by the fact that I have already lost 2 of my 7 RB (Foreman & Martin). However I was able to grab Miles Sanders late, and still have a solid upside crew. The weakness of this team is at TE - I have to think at the time of the draft Eifert had not yet re-signed with the Bengals, so Uzomah was flier hoping he would be their TE1. Now he needs either an Eifert injury (always possible), or for the Bengals to roll out more 2TE sets.

In the end I think this team will finish top 6 - but won't finish top 2 without a good dose of luck.
Well a top 6 spot is still within reach as I am ranked top 4 at the moment - but it definitely is not likely to be top 2 (140+ gap).

The problem with taking a lot of late RB fliers - is that if the RBs do not get on the field - you do not get any points

Martin - cut.
Foreman - IR / cut
Yeldon - frequently inactive

The good news (on the RB front) is that Hyde seems to be getting stronger as the season progresses. He & Freeman with some flex appeal from Sanders are my only hope from that department.

The bad news overall is now I need luck just to finish middle of the pack lol. Ah well - the earlier the draft (this one was done in February) the more risky a proposition it is to figure out who will be late round gems.

Team II - February
Top 3 (75, 20, 10)
4H Slow Draft
Draft spot - 2

QB - Andrew Luck, Josh Rosen

RB - Royce Freeman, TJ Yeldon, Jaylen Samuels, Austin Ekeler, D'Onta Foreman, Ronald Jones, Miles Sanders

WR - Juju Smith-Schuster, Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, Corey Davis, Sammy Watkins, Demaryius Thomas

TE - Dallas Goedert, Ian Thomas, CJ Uzomah

TD - Seattle, Pittsburgh

Thoughts on my team:

A team with no luck. Literally. Funny how things can change so drastically in 6 months. At the time I thought Luck was all I would need and Rosen would be needed only for 1 week (and was still with Arizona). Anyways with automatic Zeros, for at least part of the season at QB, the odds this team is successful are pretty slim. I will hope to avoid a last place finish at least.
Well my goal of not finishing last is so far so good. And this is a good reason why it can be a good idea to draft 3 QBs when you have 2 QBs with question marks - Luck being health & Rosen being able to start games. That 3rd QB instead of Foreman would have made a big difference. Ah well, live & learn, and like I said - here is to not finishing last! ;)

QB - Ben Roethlisberger, Matthew Stafford

RB - Royce Freeman, LeSean McCoy, TJ Yeldon, Carlos Hyde, Miles Sanders, Kalen Ballage, Doug Martin

WR - Juju Smith-Schuster, Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Jarvis Landry, Corey Davis, Sammy Watkins

TE - Mark Andrews, CJ Uzomah, Noah Fant

TD - Buffalo, Atlanta

Thoughts on my team:

Apart from Martin this team seems to have survived the off-season with little cost. As with the majority of my teams, as long as I can get some production out of my RBs, I should be able to rely on the WRs to carry me. Recent NFL news have made my RB corps more boom/bust hopeful. And if Miles Sanders can live up to his hype I feel confident this team could be a top 3 squad, if not better.
Well the loss of Big Ben really hurt. This is a top 3 league (meaning the top 3 spots pay out $ or credits) and there is a remote chance I can finish top 3 - but not too optimistic. Again hindsight suggests that 3rd QB would come in handy, and either Ballage or Martin are easily replaceable in that regards.

Andrews has been a nice surprise, especially given where I drafted him in the 14th. I am probably going to be skittish of the Falcons D next year though, after grabbing them wherever I could this year in the last round(s).
