So I've never had a top flight, top 5 QB in dynasty and I've noticed it's the only type of league where I've struggled to win championships.
The one year I made the Superbowl in 2012, I had the worst QBs in the league. I was alternating Freeman and Bradford. You read that right - freaking Freeman and Bradford!
So I'm starting to think, if I don't draft or trade for Hall of Fame and Top 5 QB, I may never win a dynasty league championship.
Am I crazy? Or can you win with average guys or even borderline-trash (Freeman and Bradford!) at your QB1 in dynasty?

I won my first dynasty chamionship with Romo this year. Only been in dynasty since 2012... one team featuring Peyton, no trophies yet.
I routinely win redraft with leagues with waiver wire picked up QBs.

I will say, I had two loaded rosters last year with Stafford as my QB and lost in the play offs in both due to him.
Give me a consistent qb like Ryan in the middle rounds and I'm happy.

Whats funny is that the consensus two best qbs, Rodgers and Luck, carried people to the playoffs in fantasy last year but put up some of their worst games when they got there. I remember contemplating benching Rodgers for Eli last year but decided against it. Would have won the ship if I did!

I won with Jay Cutler in one of his first seasons in Chicago. He'd been terrible all year and put up negative points the week before, but he was all I had. It was long after the trade deadline.
He destroyed the Vikings on Monday nite football, finishing with a long OT touchdown pass to give me the championship by just over one point. It was insane. Total luck.
In general, I try to get a solid QB ifcan elite guy is out of my range. Roethlisberger at minimum. I don't like streaming or trying to pick who will do better each week. My research has shown it's hard to pick the correct QB between two similar guys. The teams with solid, reliable starters outscore streamers.

In 2013 I went through the playoffs in 2 separate leagues streaming Kirk Cousins and Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. I was pretty invested in RG3 in those 2 leagues, and he got shut down towards the end of the season. I ended up winning it all in one the leagues and lost in the title game in the other. I started Fitz in both leagues that week.
