Even if Martin has a RB2 season he will be a 27 year-old FA after this year and probably battling just to make a roster.

I think some of us may be coming into this thread with a certain mindset based on who created it. I mean no disrespect DLFiend, but you do have a certain reputation to some.
Now I don't care for Martin, I've always been lower than the masses on him when his value has been high. And I don't want any parts this year because I'm just not a believer. But to the point of the thread, I'm not sure how you can argue with his logic that Martin is a "draft winner". I think a lot of us thought TB would draft a RB in the first few rounds, and possibly one early enough to be declared the Auto-starter. But they did not, and So this leaves, for now, Martin and Sims to battle for the starting position. Add in a Winston and a couple 2nd round O lineman, and despite what anyone may think of Martin, I don't know how you couldn't consider him a Draft winner. Sims is too. And the same goes for DMac & Randle/ Ryan Williams.

I see much of Matt Forte's skill set in Sims. If he gets a chance and stays healthy I can see him getting the bulk of the touches.

Idk what changed from last year to this year. Bucs still like sims as far as I can tell. Best hope for Martin is a 2rb system.

He may have won the draft in April, but I would like him to be a winner during football season...

I just don't know. He hurt me so bad back in 2013, I don't know if we can ever get back together.

In a keeper league after 2012 I had a choice between keeping him at the cost of my 4th or keeping Jamaal Charles at the cost of my 2nd. I chose Dougie, because he treated me so well in 2012. Flowers and chocolate and the whole 9 yards... I mean 1400 yards.

Then he goes and does 2013 to me. How could he? I thought we had something special.

And then the fish I let get away shows me his 5-TD performance when we face each other in the playoffs, him in the arms of his new partner. I was there with Mike James, because I was in to handcuffs. Mike James! How humiliating.

I went home and cried and cried. Now you're asking me to do it all over again?

I just don't know.

The RB they draft in 2016 is the real winner.

This.

I sold my shares of Martin, no interest in buying them back honestly.

Bucs declined 2016 option for Martin; although no surprise.

DLFiend wrote:Doug Martin is locked and loaded to be TB's bellcow again this year. Now that defenses can't key in on the run game b/c Jameis, he'll look to bounce back after an injury-plagued 2014. After he got healthy, he looked great the last few weeks of 2014 and Sims is terrible.
Hilarious thread :D

Pewter Report says the Bucs want to feature Charles Sims this season.

Pewter Report is one of the best team blogs out there. "Still think Doug Martin may not play a down in Tampa this year and may get traded prior to the season," they tweeted Monday morning in the wake of Martin's fifth-year option getting declined. It's clear the Lovie Smith regime is understandably low on the Muscle Hamster and high on their hand-picked man in Sims. But they have plenty of cap room and Sims has the look of a change-of-pace/passing-down back right now. It's a situation to track through the offseason, especially with the Bucs improving their run-game outlook by adding two offensive linemen in the first two rounds of the draft.

Considering who the obvious suitor would be if Martin were traded, I'd be holding him right now.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Agents for Buccaneers RB Doug Martin have been told Tampa is not picking up 5th-year option in his contract, per league source.
