Fasano released - Kelces value?

Postby Bad News Barrett » Thu Feb 26, 2015 12:34 pm

Anthony Fasano was released. Watching the Chiefs last year, every time Fasano caught the ball I cringed. Now, Kelce should be the focal point of the offense. Does Fasano leaving increase his value? What is his worth now?

No, mostly because Kelce being the focal point of the offense and the primary TE was already baked into his price. He's not the TE4 in dynasty if people assumed he was still behind Fasano.

Fasano's release presumably means Kelce will finally be getting 90% of the offense's snaps now, and that might benefit his stats enough to have him climb to, say, dynasty TE3 by the end of 2015... but if people already consider him dynasty TE4, as the above poster apparently does, then obviously this still doesn't represent a dramatic increase in value.

He's going to be priced around the TE3 spot very shortly. I can't say that I would argue with that sentiment. If Julius ends up in a fair to poor location, I cannot see a situation where anyone trades Kelce for Thomas straight up. You probably cannot many that would right now anyway.

Also, do you think 1.6 is a fair price to give for Kelce ATM? At least a starting point?

I read his release as more of - maybe Demetrius Harris gets a shot as the second TE in this offense? But on OP, no I don't think this changes Kelce's value much. He's already being valued as a top 5 TE I would think.

I need to see more from Kelce. Too many guys are one year wonders. Give it to me again this year, and I'll start believing. I'm not trading anything of value for a non top Tier TE, which he is not. I see him being on par with Olsen, on the high side, not Gronk or Graham. I would not trade a first round pick in the top half of the draft for him. Maybe 1.07 an up.

I have him clocking in at #6 behind Gronk, Graham, Julius, Unicorn, Olsen (a little older I know).

I always thought a TE was going to breakout when Andy coached the Eagles but it just never materialized. I feel like there is some risk accordingly with Kelce.

His value doesn't go up, but his production should. So for me, it's great news.

There is another version of it on the internet involving a a pornstar and a hotdog that is hilarious, but I didn't feel comfortable using that one. Really distracting. No one has PMed me about the Halloween costume yet in sig... Still waiting

Yup. As a Kelce owner in multiple leagues, I really have no intentions of dealing him unless I get blown away, but would like his production to go up and I think it should anyways as this will be his 2nd full season coming up.

He received almost the identical amount of snaps that Fasano received last year (Kelce -668, Fasano - 671)... I see the move from Fasano as teambadknees does, Demetrius Harris maybe getting a shot to be relevant.. Still its the KC offense and Kelce had 1 year.. For me I'm not a buyer at the price you have to pay, and depending on my depth at the position I could be a seller because the price to acquire him right now (because of peoples value on him) is pretty high. I would say in the range of 1.5-1.9 is what you need to pay for Kelce right now

KC is going to replace Fasano with a blocking TE. Kelce doesn't block well. This release really doesn't change anything IMO. They are going to have a better blocking TE on the field when they run the ball, I think Kelce owners need to temper their expectations a bit, he's not much of a blocker, and Reid loves to run the ball. I really can't stand how Rotoworld etc. jump to conclusions about how Kelce will now be an every down TE. Really? Is that what Andy Reid told you? You can't just assume that Kelce gets all Fasano's snaps, I very much doubt it works out that way. Kelce was extremely productive, and if he's out there all the time he's going to get banged up a whole lot more. If I owned Kelce I wouldn't want him out there a whole lot when Charles etc are running, it will do nothing for his stats, and it will take it's toll physically.
