Gurley Red Flag

Postby Matticus » Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:12 am

He refused to let doctors look at his surgically repaired knee today. Never heard of this before and I'm sure alarms are going off for many teams. How is this nugget impact his draft status for you?

For what its worth, I read that the doctors had aggravated a few injuries earlier in the week, so this could be a reason for not letting them look at it.

What on earth are they doing that is aggravating injuries? That sounds like negligence..

I heard the same thing. If my knee was tore up and those rumors were flying around I wouldn't let them touch my knee either.

@BryanBroaddus "Being told about Gurley. It is common not to pull or twist on a knee that was repaired 3 months ago. Teams understand this and are okay."

Rutgers TE Tyler Kroft "had his ankle injured" by doctors during Combine medical examinations, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

This is why Gurley wisely declined....

Personally, I think anyone who drafts in front of me should consider Gurley's refusal as a significant red flag.
Team #1: 12 team, (1 QB 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, K, DEF), PPR (0.5/1/1), 22-player roster

QB: Newton, Foles, Carr
RB: Hill, TRich, Taliaferro, A Williams, D Williams
WR: AJ, Gordon, Benjamin, M Bryant, Jennings, C Hogan, Austin, Dobson, Janis, D Carter, C Washington
TE: Graham

Team #2: 12-team, (1 QB 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, K, DEF), PPR (0.5/1/1), 25-player roster

QB: Ryan, Bridgewater
RB: Forte, Ellington, Forsett, Hill, Bush, Taliaferro, Cunningham
WR: Megatron, Julio, Gordon, A Johnson, VJax, CPatt, Colston, D Baldwin, C Hogan, Charles Johnson
TE: Gronk, Witten

Why? It's normal to avoid it.

Obviously, doesn't mean it isn't a bit of a red flag.

Wouldn't touch him with a top 5 pick. Too many other good players without injury problems. Well, I might take him at 1.05. Gordon, Cooper, Parker and White I would take without hesitation over Gurley. Good back, but not so good that I can ignore the injury red flags. Has never proven he can carry a significant load through a college season on a consistent basis (look at his carry totals each year), so how will he handle an NFL schedule? I guess I'm just not "wowed" by him like a lot of other people. Top 2 back in this class, but not worth the risk for me. I'm very surprised that he is the consensus top pick through all the "experts" mock draft. Everybody is just sluffing off the injury stuff like it's nothing. Hope your all right, but I have my doubts about it.
