Are we all spoiled by the 2014 dream class?

Postby marmar » Sat Jan 24, 2015 12:00 pm

Rookie fever is upon us, and we have all seen some crazy deals in the forums lately. As great as the 2015 draft class appears to be as we are looking thru our rose colored glasses of what things COULD be lets look back further then just the DREAM CLASS OF 2014! For the most part these are just off the top of my head.

2013 Class.
Gio, Tavon, Lacey, Ball, Hopkins, Patterson, Hunter, Bell, Allen, Wheaton, R Woods, Eifert

2012 Class.
Trent, Luck, Martin, RGIII, Blackmon, Floyd , D Wilson, K Wright, S Hill, Tannehill, Jeffery, Sanu

2011 Class.
Green, Julio, Ingram, Leshoure, R Williams, D Thomas, Baldwin, Little, Cam, Torrey, Hankerson, Rudolph

I feel we are all being blinded a bit by just how good this past class has been, while forgetting that is not the norm. Outside of the top 3 picks each year the bust rate is pretty darn high, and even the top 3 picks has seen its share of busts. Sure that feeling of HITTING ON YOUR GUY lasts forever in your mind, but how soon we FORGET THAT LIST OF BUSTS we also selected!
Luck, Eli
L Bell, J Hill, Gio, L Murray, L Blount, T Riddick
A Johnson, J Edleman, J Matthews, M Floyd az, C Patterson, J Hunter, C Johnson, S Bailey, A Holmes, A Wilson
Gronk, Allen
M Bryant
Stl, NEP

This time last year it looked like the entire 2013 class were studs, though maybe not quite as much as this year (OBJ). Some of the dreamers are going to turn into nightmares pretty soon. I'm selling Benjamin, Cooks, Matthews, Allen Robinson, Carlos Hyde, Sankey, Bortles, Manziel before the season starts.

In that list I'm keeping Benjamin, Cooks, Matthews, Robinson, Hyde and Bortles ...

We are absolutely spoiled by this years class.
And last years class blew.

The biggest difference between this year and last year was people being stupid.
Patterson (production wise) would have been the equivalent to like moncrief in this class.
Moncrief in 2014 was like the 9th best rookie wr.
Obj, Evans, Watkins, Benjamin, cooks, Mathews, Landry for sure over him.

Ball is a lot like hyde.
But you still have hill and mason.

This class is far far better than last year
TEAM 1: 12 man PPR (.25 passing and rushing attempt) dynasty league
QB:Josh Allen, Matt Ryan, Zach Wilson
RB: Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, JK Dobbins, Najee Harris, Joe Mixon, Deandre Swift
WR: Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, Deandre Hopkins, Chris Godwin, Jamaar Chase, Allen Robinson, Rashod Bateman
TE: Kyle Pitts, Hunter Henry

TEAM 2: 10 MAN Superflex. (standard PPR).
QB: Mahomes, Wilson, Stafford, Wentz, Jimmy G
RB: Mccaffrey, Zeke, Javonte, Akers, Jacobs, Edmonds, Henderson, Fournette, Pollard
WR: Adams, Michael Thomas, Keenan Allen, Aiyuk, Odell Beckham, Devonta Smith Julio,Shenault
TE: Travis Kelce, George Kittle

TEAM 3:10 MAN PPR (2 QUARTERBACK LEAGUE took over orphan 2016) Dynasty League
QB: Dak, Lamar, Tua, Winston, Bridgewater,
RB: Mccaffrey, Henry, Aaron Jones, Chubb, Mike Davis
WR: Aj Brown, Terry Mclaurin, Theilen, Godwin, Juedy, Sutton, Watkins, Davis, Crowder

2021picks: 1.10,3.10

I would be keeping or buying low on cooks, and keeping Matthews, Robinson, Hyde, and Bortles.

2014 definitely seems to be influencing the perceived trade value of 2015 rookie picks in my leagues right now, particularly picks in the 10-24 range.

I like to look at it in reverse. There are approximately 10 WR from 2014 that would be in the top 5 for me if in this 2015 class. Some would be 1st, others would be 2nd-5th, but there's 10 of them!

That's my point guys are forgetting the risks and the perceived trade value of 2015 picks are being based only off the 2014 draft. It just seems to me from these forums and my leagues that this year more so then in the past these picks are being valued as a sure bet. I have had it happen several times in trade talks " last year XYZ was there" at that spot. Just seems like a lot of owners tend to forget last years draft class and production are not the norm.

Not for me personally. I don't actually have much value for anyone outside of the first 6-7. There's guys I like, but nothing I'm willing to give up a ton for.

Don't get the consistent Kb bashing. Dude just put up a 1000 yard season as a undeveloped rout runner relying purely on his God given physical gifts. Those aren't going any were. He can be scary if he actually developed his game. As far as drops go there was this one wr named Owens. He dropped a couple as well

yes spoiled big time. some of these guys are still severely undervalued imo as well because of rookie fever for the 2015 draft class. i been buying last years rookies in all leagues using the picks for this year whenever possible. this draft looks incredibly weak imo outside of the top 3.

Gurley, Gordon, Copper, White, and Parker all look legit

deep rb class with nearly 10 teams that could draft a starting rb

may look weak now but it will definitely improve.

I saw that and went "Copper? Am I totally missing out on someone? Wait, I know a Terrance Copper... but I think he played already.. (wiki). I wonder if he's related!?"

Cooper.... I'm such an idiot.

The drops are concerning as well as his limited route running because hes going to be 24 in 2 weeks. He's older then every other rookie by 2-3 years and he's almost a year and a half older then keenan allen. I think he'll be a decent td guy for a long time but we may have seen his ceiling already.

Dont get me wrong he did help me win a championship this year but I was actively shopping him before a Crabtree or other fa wr lands in carolina and he doesn't come close to having the targets he did this year.
