NY Giants D/ST Fumble Recovery?

Postby joeday » Sun Dec 14, 2014 9:17 pm

It shows a FR for NYG but I don't see it anywhere? I don't wanna take the point for granted in a close game. Anyone have any insight on this?

Looks like an RGIII rush before Halftime:

(:08) R.Griffin scrambles right end for 8 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
The Replay Official challenged the runner broke the plane ruling, and the play was REVERSED.
R.Griffin scrambles right end to NYG 1 for 7 yards (J.Pierre-Paul). FUMBLES (J.Pierre-Paul), ball out of bounds in End Zone, Touchback.

Does NYG get credit for that recovery though?

No. RGIII recovered his own fumble, but because it was in the last 2 minutes of a half, it was ruled a touchback.

If RG3 was ruled as having lost possession, someone's got to "have" possession. I can see the Giants D getting credit for that.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

The plays says the ball went out of bounds out of the end zone, thus no recovery for the Giants. But by rule it's a touchback.

Similar to the Packers game, Rogers fubmled into the end zone and Lacy recovered, but it's a safety by rule since Rogers didn't recover it himself inside of two minutes. Thus the defense got a safety but no fumble recovery.

So you are saying I am going to get recalced out of a point from the sounds of it?

Maybe. All depends on how Elias scores it and even if a stat change for it comes down on Thursday.
