Week 13 Observations
Re: Week 13 Observations
I've been preaching it for a while on this site. Some agree and some dont. After watching in primetime can we all agree now that Kaepernick is awful? I don't care how fast you can throw a football if you can't throw it anywhere near the reciever

It's not the death of the running quarterbacks. Wilson is doing just fine. It's the year of death of the running quarterbacks that have the worst accuracy imaginable and/or do not know how to go through pass progressions as if they were in high school or playing Madden on Xbox.Billy McFred wrote:This year is the death of the running quarterback. Cam has been struggling too...
Wilson actually is accurate and makes good decisions most of the time.

Much like the Wildcat. Defenses just need a year to adapt.holy_stromboli wrote:Cam has been struggling too...

The run first QB is dead because teams always have a super athletic linebacker just spying the QB at all times.

Re: Week 13 Observations
I think it's more of a system thing. Seattle lets Wilson do his thing and he's amazing. They only let Kap do his thing in the playoffs, and he's amazing. But they force him to be something he's not, and it's pretty clear he's awful when they do that. Cam has dealt with injuries and no supporting cast most of the year, so it's tough to say, but in his first 3 years it didn't seem to matter.balaberda wrote:Much like the Wildcat. I dunno though. I think that when Wilson runs it is off the read option.
When Wilson scrambles he tries to throw first. When Kaep/RG3/Newton Scramble they are almost always trying to run.
Wilson seems to look to throw and then run when he sees that it is open (much like Tannehill this year). I may be wrong as I don't pay that much attention but it just seems to look like that.

This pretty much sums it up. He "scrambles" to try to buy time primarily.balaberda wrote:Wilson seems to look to throw and then run when he sees that it is open (much like Tannehill this year). I may be wrong as I don't pay that much attention but it just seems to look like that.
Although there are designed run plays from time-to-time.

Re: Week 13 Observations
Kaepernick doesn't strike me as inaccurate. Rather, his problem seems to be that he rarely throws to a spot or "throws guys open". He runs into problems when Harbaugh's system isn't giving him clear, open targets to throw to.Breezy12 wrote:It's not the death of the running quarterbacks. Wilson is doing just fine.
