Pats trade for TE Tim Wright???

Anybody seeing this? I saw a post on deadspin with a screencap of a tweet detailing that the Pats are sending Logan Mankins to the Bucs for Tim Wright.

If true, would anyone care to offer any opinions on what that does for Wrights value as a TE? As a Wright owner I can't help but be intrigued at the idea of Wright in the Pats offensive system.

Wright would be a hot pick up if this happened. I can't find anything right now. I think the Pats would have to be really low on Mankins to make that deal…..I can't see it happening.

Apparently it's not "if" it happens. It's happened, according to Jay Glazer and profootballtalk.

Yeah I was just going to post it. Still surprised.

Guess they figured they couldn't run the ball anyway, might as well trade their best run blocker.

Good news for Doug Martin, should help him.

Doubt it means much this year as the NE offense is hard to learn, long term maybe.

Pats save like 10 mil in cap by this trade. Is this just the beginning of something magical? Andre or Fitz?

This definitely has the feel of a move made specifically to create space for another move.. wonder if they move Mallet in a trade involving someone expensive.

Edit: Boone?

I'm gonna say Mallet for Spiller.

Andre for Mallett makes a ton of sense. Texans owe it to Andre to put him on a competitive team.

I don't see the Pats wanting Spiller. Seems like a waste having both Vereen and Spiller for only 1 year each.

Definite possibility. Pats usually try and trade someone when they see a decline in their play. Trade them before the rest of the league realizes what they all ready know.

Agreed. How do we know that they weren't just really high on Tim Wright, or really low on Mankins? Maybe the deal to see here is just the actual deal that was done and not much else. Teams do usually spend up to the cap though.... it's an intriguing situation to say the least.
