Lol Tate owners drinking the kool aid.
Both played in SEC. Tate put up whopping 392 yds as Frosh, Crowell Freshmen of year.
Tate ranked anywhere from 6-17 coming out. Crowell unanimous #1. You define pedigree differently than I.
Tate has slightest of edges at combine
40s - 4.3, 4.5
Bench. 26, 23
Vertical - 40, 38
3cone - 6.9, 7.1
Get ready ready for 1 heck of a battle in preseason. Tate already used to riding bench... Crowell back against the wall and fighting for a life/future. I'll take my definition of pedigree and Crowell

Ter West picked RD 3 pick 30(94) combine results Height 69(in), weight 225(lbs), 4.56(40), 16(bench), 33.5(vert), 10.0(broad), 4.44(shuttle), 7.28(3cone)

Both are good prospects/players It is very possible that they both "cap" each other in a time share. Tate has inj questions, while West has how will his game translate from small school to the NFL questions. Either one could turn into a huge fantasy asset depending on how those questions are answered. Then it is entirely possible that the Browns may have found their new Kevin Mack & Ernest Byner from the 80"s when they each ran for 1000 yards in the same season. But both Tate and West have to fend off Crowell, Baker, and Lewis in camp this will be a fun battle to watch play out. I'm taking Tate, well until he gets hurt then I'm taking West....
Guess I will throw Crowell's numbers as well.

I Crowell Picked UDFA combine results Height 71(in), weight 224(lbs), 4.57(40), 23(bench), 38.0(vert), 9.8(broad), 4.56(shuttle), 7.28(3cone)

A healthy Ben Tate easily for me...but that's the problem.

Wait, you're 'going to take' a udfa over a talented 2nd round pick with 4 years experience in the nfl and a 3rd round pick this year? I mean if you want to take a shot on a flier ok, but there's no way you can convince me you would take Crowell over Tate in a startup draft.

Yes, every team passed on the unanimous #1 RB in this draft 7 times. Each.

Assuming you are a Tate owner...
I am not a Crowell owner.
Your little immature laughing smiley faces....
Crowell scares the hell out of you. Trust that feeling.

Haha, I have no shares of the backfield - I just think it's funny that somebody who couldn't get more than 15 carries/game at Alabama State is suddenly going to turn into an NFL workhorse.

Based on potential *if healthy* I would go with Ben Tate. He has played in the NFL, will protect JFF, and if he plays well it's his job to lose. Tate reminds me a lot of Ryan Mathews from 2013. Injury history dropped his stock and he rebounded well. Same could happen here in Cleveland...with or without Gordon.

I totally agree with you its going to be one heck of a battle.

Tate had 392 yards on 54 attempts 7.26 ypc 3 td
Crowell had 850 yards on 185 attempts 4.59 ypc 5 td

If you triple Tate's attempts his freshman year to match Crowell's its 1176 yards on 162 carries 9 tds.

But yes I really like Crowell as well I am not sure they bench a guy they just signed and a former 2nd rd pick and a guy they just moved up in the draft to take in the 3rd rd for a UDFA, even though he has a ton of talent he has a huge uphill climb

Ben Tate. The others may develop, but right now Tate is proven, excellent talent who not only fits the system but knows it inside and out. He'll step in day one and be a huge producer in Cleveland's offense. By this time in his career he may have training, conditioning, and other aspects it takes to remain healthy as an NFL RB. I will say that it's possible one or both of the youngsters could overtake him in time IF they blossom and learn the system well enough, but that's speculation. Ben Tate will shoulder the load and be very good this season and probably the next few years.
