what course of action of warranted

Postby clarion contrarion » Fri Apr 25, 2014 10:20 am

owner shops adrian peterson

1st offer

peterson for 1:6 shane vereen & 2:14

2nd offer

1:3 for peterson 1:11 2:6 and 2015 1st

really curious here as I have a no veto rule but
in a vacuum this trade is
a) OK
b) collusion
c) the worst trade of all time

I am considering putting both owners on probation for 1 year as that to me is just pathetic

full disclosure
I offered 1st offer other owner came back saying he was waiting on better deal

I may be too close to this just wanted some impartial feedback it is not the sig team by the way different league
thanks clarion.

I'm a bit confused by the two offers but in a vacuum on what I think...

Offer one seems fine. I'd have a hard time doing it unless AP was the final puzzle piece to a championship with a lot of money on the line. But I don't think it's outrageous or anything.

Offer two is horrible. Whomever is getting 1.3 is getting seriously bent over. If you took out the 2015 1st then maybe, but I don't think I could do it unless it was during the draft and somehow Watkins fell to that spot.

I might be crazy, but that's my thoughts.

Does the former Peterson owner have any sort of history making awful trades? Is the team who traded for Peterson good friends with the former Peterson owner? Has the team who traded for Peterson made trades of this ilk before? Is this 2QB/superflex?

Regardless of the answers to the above questions, this was an awful trade for the Peterson owner. This could only be somewhat to the slightest degree justifiable if he has a major crush on a player outside Evans/Watkins.

It took me a second to figure it out. I thought the second deal was Peterson for all the picks, not 01.03 for Peterson plus the other picks. I don't know if it's collusion or just stupidity (who would he love that much at 01.03 to give up probably his best short-term player, two firsts, and a mid-second?), but it certainly could be one or the other.

Honestly, your trade offer isn't really even relevant. We could subjectively argue Peterson for 01.06/Vereen/02.14 all day. But the second deal, which apparently got done, is just outrageous.

Even 1.1 doesn't make a lot of sense.
I understand the Sammy Watkins broner syndrome happening 2 weeks before NFL draft. but that is too much for 1.1.

I can't see how this trade happened! unless as ajb3313 said it was originally thought as all the picks for Peterson?

Brutal trade. The person giving Peterson and the picks for the 1.3 should have to pay 2-3 years in advance and deal with the ramifications of their trade

AP may be getting older, but I'd be willing to bet that a fair amount of people think he's worth more than the 1.3 by himself still by a decent amount, and justifiably so. As has been argued in other threads before though, collusion is very hard to actually prove. On top of that, player perception can be all over the board, even on guys like AP, so it's also feasible that someone would think they needed to cut bait before the wheels fall off. That trade, however, is a fleecing.

not a superflex based on the reactions I was justified in being steamed that my offer was rejected ... but to see he accepted the 1;3 for peterson + 3 picks
I blew a gasket ... thanks for all the feedback I for sure wanted to make sure I wasn't just mad because my deal was declined .

owners are not buddies and the one who traded for the 1;3 has no prior history of stupidity ..... just must have ben drunk early in the day I suppose

If the other guy was so he'll bent on getting the 1.03 he should have taken your offer and then traded most of the picks and vareen for the 1.03. He would of jax plenty left over plus the 1.03

all this said, unless you can prove collusion then I don't see an issue here other than someone making a stupid trade. Ive had great offers rejected and worse offers for the same player(s) accepted in my leagues. Of course I am ticked off but unless I can prove there is something shady going on there is nothing I can, or should, do about it. It's his team, and maybe he really loves Watkins, Evans or Hyde (or someone else) and really wants one of them at 1.3? Was it a terrible choice not to take your offer? sure...but its his team, he paid the same league fees as you did, so if he wants to make a deal (and isnt doing anything illegal according to your bylaws) then just chalk this up as a bad trade. They happen everywhere.

Probation for the owners is a reach.
