Thoughts on ties...

Postby nation31 » Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:36 am

Do your leagues allow ties? Do you support ties? What do you use as tie-breakers?

An instance occurred today as MFL had some stat corrections that resulted in a tie- this occurred after the waivers had already ran and would have altered the waiver positioning that went through early this morning. Any seen anything like this before?

Tie breaker for us goes to who had the better QB play.

Our MFL league allows ties although I've never had a situation where a late scoring change would have changed an already processed waiver.

Since it was a scoring change and nothing that you did as commissioner I would leave the waivers the way they had been processed because that was the order at the time of waivers.

looks like two different issues here.

You'll probably here as many tie breaker ideas as you have respondents here.

As for the waiver wire issue - I guess you'll just have to let it go - you have no control over when updates to stats are made. You do have control over when the waivers run, but you do need to have it at a reasonable time, too, so some give and take is necessary.

One other option is to change the settings so that no stats updates are allowed - when the games are over Monday night, they are over, and you can move on to the next week.

Somethings to think about.

I personally do not like ties at all. In each of my leagues - we have scoring down to the hundredth and even then we've gotten very close to a tie a few times. IN that scoring then a single yard would be worth .01 points... 10 yds rushing = 1 point. The break down this way makes it very very unlikely to have an exact tie. I highly recommend it.

We use whoever had the highest scoring player wins as tiebreaker.

What's wrong with ties? Just count it as a tie. Ties are fun.

And I'd just leave waivers as they were.

If Donovan McNabb doesn't like them, I don't like them!

That said, if the NFL has them, why can't fantasy?

Ties are fine...I think it is much better to have a tie than have someone win by .4 points (4 yards) which are basically irrelevant to how good someone was on a particular day. Now if only my NHL would get rid of the lame shootout and bring back ties...off topic sigh!!

The leagues I am in also work with decimal points (0.1 per yard etc). In the unlikely event of a game still ending in a tie we just accept it though.

I hate ties. Our scoring rules go out to .001. And if there ever is a tie, both owners take a loss in the standings and forfeit a future second-round pick.

That sounds really harsh in my opinion

Haha, I think he was being, what's the word? Facetious. But I hate ties myself, leave you with that empty hollow feeling.

I prefer Drakes London but Robert Talbott Best of Class can be a great deal. I do not like skinny ties. Stick to a standard (mid) width and you will be fine.
