Bryce Browns value?

Postby kingnesta » Sun Sep 01, 2013 9:39 am

I had a leaguemate offer me Bryce Brown for a 2015 1st rd pick. I do own Shady and I have 2 2015 1st's, so my question is do you think it is a good trade? Do you think Bryce has a chance to move on and be a stud on another team? Or do you see him sitting behind Shady for a few years and then he gets his chance?

Guess I'm in the minority, but I would easily take that, especially as a McCoy owner... Brown has as much talent as whoever you might get in 2015, and that's two years away. Plus he gives you injury insurance and should see some touches and produce enough points to maybe be a flex starter already.

I put Bryce Brown on the trade block & the best value I was offered were 2014 & 2015 3rd round picks. No way would I give a 1st for Bryce right now. I was hoponh to get a 2nd & 3rd for him, but no one bit. I would trade him for a 1st in a heartbeat. So, I say keep the pick.

I might give him up for a 2014 1st but not a 2015 first. 2 years is just to long of a waiting game. Would definitely give him up for a 2nd and 3rd soooooo much talent there.

Guess I'm in the minority. He has a lot of talent and since you own McCoy as well I'd be happy to pick Brown up.

Its going to be a waiting game with Brown. His value is higher in the eyes of his owner, and depending on McCoy owners value for a handcuff, his value to them is hit or miss. I would be willing to give a 2nd rounder plus a little more for him, but with some of the talent coming out in the next few years, I would rather have the 1st rounders, whether its a 2014 pick, or a 2015 pick.

I'd have no interest in that.

Thanks guys. I turned down the trade. I am nota guy that likes to get in the mindset that I need to have my handcuff. I do like Brown's talent, but not at that cost. I did counter with a 2nd and a 3 rd and he said no.

In your case as a McCoy owner - I'd probably have taken that offer. In Kelly's run heavy / fast paced offense - I'd think it quite possible that Brown sees 10 plus touches per game even when McCoy is healthy which imo makes him an acceptable flex start or bye week fill in if you find yourself in a pinch. If McCoy misses time - Brown would likely put up rb1 numbers which would push his value up a great deal. However, if you are lower on Brown that is your right to pass on the offer.

I definitely would've considered taking this deal. I remember some folks in the 30+ page Bryce Brown thread were claiming that they wouldn't trade Bryce for the 1.1 in this year's draft (this was back in May/June). I thought that was blasphemous, but a 2015 1st rounder seems like fair value. The guy obviously has talent, and despite being behind McCoy, he's in a great situation for a handcuff. It's possible he has some stand alone value this year as a FLEX play, and he has the talent to eventually develop into a starter 2-3 years from now.

I received a (projected late) 2014 1st for Bryce Brown...thought it was fair value.
