Julio vs AJ

Postby invisibulman » Sat Aug 11, 2012 2:07 pm

These two are both studs and are likely to be tied to one another for their entire career. Just had a guy approach me to swap these two straight up. Said, I didn't see the incentive and eventually got him to throw in a 2nd round pick. So, time to take sides. AJ or Julio. Who you got?

I'd say Julio if I'm trying to win now. AJG if I'm building for the future.

I'd rather own AJG, but the pick would be enough to sway me probably.

Julio. Both have similar height, JJ is thicker, but faster too. AJ has smaller hands and average speed. Not that either is bad, it's just that JJ has explosive capabilities. It showed in '11 and he will 'breakout' in 2012.

I would take JJ in that swap in a second and never look back. When you filter the height, weight and speed, JJ is in rare territory. He has produced in limited time and has the QB to back him up, the other receiver to take some double teams away.

Your calculator should show JJ is a better prospect.

The deal actually ended up being
Get: AJG, 2013 2nd and 2014 2nd
Gave: Julio, Rashad Jennings.

I liked Julio a little bit better, but it was close enough that I took the picks. My team is still about 1 year and 1 elite RB away from being a real threat, so I thought it made sense. Just thought it was interesting that popular opinion has switched in Julio's favor albeit slightly.

AJG has proven he's durable and can play against the doubles. Julio hasn't. He's an open field messiah but one injury (to him or roddy) away from being mediocre. I'm huge on Julio, don't get me wrong, but he has turner, Gonzalez and roddy Drawing attention I'm not sure he can lead the offense like AJG can. I think when all is said and done Julio will have had some AMAZING years, but when he starts to slow/see the focus of the d dealing with ONLY him, I think he slows while AJG keeps on chugging

Is the poll asking AJG vs Julio and a 2nd or just AJG vs Julio?

Right - and now it's become something different than that. I no longer like this deal at all.

In a dynasty, you can't go wrong with either.

They are so close that I don't feel strongly one way or the other, but I did recently trade Marshall/Jermichael for Julio in one league.
