RG3 to the Skins

Postby bigcsr67 » Fri Mar 09, 2012 8:48 pm

Looks like we have our first two spots of the draft figured out. Luck to indy, and now that the Rams traded the 2nd pick to the skins, RG3 is moving to DC. How are we liking their situations now?

I'm stunned how much they gave to move up 4 spots and get him, incredible. As for the situation, I hate it for RG3. They have garbage WR's, ho-hum RB's, a garbage O-Line and no draft picks to help fix those things. Gonna be rough sledding for the kid.

Helu was easily one of the better values this offseason with all the Shanny fear. Now he doesn't have to worry about a 2nd rounder this year or any 1st round RBs for the next couple years taking his spot. Congrats to anyone that went against the grain and traded for him. Hankerson and Fred Davis also get bumps!

As a Rams fan I am beyond excited at that haul they got for the 1.02, now if only they can make the most of it! It's gonna be a rough spot for RG3 which sucks, I like him a lot too. Washington will likely build an offense around him though and who knows, maybe they overpay on some FAs this year that aren't terrible for once.

I actually think the Redskins are a very good team for RGIII. Shanahan's offense is built for mobile QBs who can roll out and throw deep, probably Griffin's two best traits. He has Hankerson to throw deep to, Fred Davis over the middle, Helu to check down. And now I imagine some FAs will be more tempted to come to Washington to play with him.

RG3 to the Skins can now legitimately begin the FFB debates about who should be drafted first... Luck or RG3. I like RG3's situation a lot better than Luck's. Yes, Luck may be the "better" QB in terms of skills, but if things don't come together and they don't get the right pieces around Luck, he could suck pretty bad! The Skins have a decent offense that only lacks a couple tackles (yes, that's a big) but I can see them now focus on that, in protecting RG3.

Any chance you guys see the Colts taking RG3 and Luck going to the Skins, now that would be a curveball!

Great debate, for sure, but I can't see the Colts pulling that switch after coveting Luck as the heir to Peyton. Even if it made sense, the media circus and disappointment of the fans (after Luck has been built up) would be too much.

But wouldn't that be something, going from a pocket passing QB to a agile, running QB? Would remind me of the Niners going from Montana to Young!

Do you think this news will encourage some high profile FA receivers to actually want to play for the redskins now? VJax for example?

I feel terrible for RGIII. Washington is one of the worst teams the NFL from ownership to management to the coaching staff. I love this kids skills, but that situation means he will slide down my draft board. I like this for Fred Davis and Hankerson but the rest of that team is horribly lacking.

The only thing that made Washington look smart in this trade was they weren't as stupid as the Jets were in paying Sanchez.

What a joke. I'm too tired to address this now, but I just wanted to point out how over-the-top this was.

From a fan perspective and a guy that likely won't draft RGIII in any leagues, I would love to see Washington grab Randy Moss. While I don't think he'd do much for the team or for RGIII, the press coverage prior to the start of the regular season would be most entertaining. :D
