"The Kenny G Story" - Kenny Golladay Thread

Postby Shcritters » Thu Jul 06, 2017 7:27 pm

Haven't seen anything on this board yet about this guy ... 3rd round pick, 6'4'', just under 220, compares to Quincy Enunwa on playerprofiler, and is currently looking like the WR3 in Detroit. What say you? More than just a flyer?

I like him, but he is very raw. I wouldn't pick him higher than the 3rd, because you are probably sitting on him for a couple years before you get any payback.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Long strides, good speed, outstanding size. I'd start considering him mid 2nd.

His route running is raw, but with his size/speed combination he could do some damage as teams will struggle to cover him with a slot corner or linebacker. Tate & Jones will keep the primary corners busy and likely a safety as well. If they slap him in the slot, I see a little Colston in him. He's obviously not going to light it up like Colston did given the fact he'll struggle to get volume, but I suspect he'll do more damage than most expect.

He's big and can run fast, so I think it's clear that he's immensely talented.

You can do way worse on other fliers than you can on Golladay.
I think it has to be a perfect scenario for him to be fantasy relevant in his first 2-3 seasons. Will be a developmental player that you like having on the back end of your roster and look for him to potentially be the WR1 there with his big size in a couple of seasons.

This is basically my feeling. Good size and speed plus intriguing situation. I was lucky to grab him off of our first FAAB wire following our draft. Has already had some good press. His arrow is pointing up in value (since the rookie draft) for the short-term. Long term that's impossible to predict at this point but he's got a lot of things in his favor at the moment.

I grabbed him at the 2.10 and feel pretty good about it. I'm fairly set at WR also, but I always like gambling on these type of players

I have a feeling that Golladay is a player that I'm going to kick myself for not drafting. I've never claimed to be the most informed rookie scout, so players like Golladay sometimes slip past me in rookie drafts. The reason for this is because pretty much all my rookie drafts take place within 2 weeks of the NFL draft, so most of the time my drafts are long over before I really start to learn about some of these deeper players that weren't on rookie draft radars pre-draft.

Golladay or Godwin? Godwin seems to be going earlier in rookie drafts, but I think I like me some golladay middle/late in the second

I own both and am high on both, but this is Godwin for me and it's not close. For my team, I'm having that debate between Golladay and Kupp.

I grabbed him at 3.06 recently (we draft one round a month after the draft) - decent flyer as any at that point.

Raw, yeah, but I'm likely rebuilding this year because of my awful backfield, so I don't mind waiting.

Plus I have Stafford, which makes it more fun if/when he hits ;)

Well, Detroit's WR corps needs SOMEBODY with height and radius, I know that. Especially since Ebron usually goes soft when the field gets short. But Golladay in college didn't actually play to his size and strength advantage.

As a Stafford owner, I'm keeping an eye on Golladay, but what I saw on his college tape didn't impress me much.

Sure, as a flyer, you could do worse. He has opportunities ahead of him. But some of the early hype about him taking Marvin Jones' job is just nuts. I'd easily take Godwin and Kupp ahead of him.
