James Robinson 2022

Postby Maglio74 » Fri Dec 03, 2021 6:45 am

What do we think this backfield in Jax looks like next season?Has J Rob done enough to hold onto this job? Will a healthy Etienne relegate him to backup duties?

Welcome to the forum! I think he has done enough, but Urban is a wild card. My guess is his touches will decrease, but he will still be the lead back.

He did more than enough to hold onto the job in 2020, and we saw how that went. I'd imagine it'll just be a split backfield with ETN

I don't think he's been a "stand out" this yr up to this point. That would have/could solidify his role going forward. I'd think they'd want to pair etn and Lawrence in hopes of rekindling the flame from college. The health of etn will play a part in things obviously and ultimately how each performs on the field is going to determine alot.

To be fair... That team is not very good and certainly in a transition period. In dynasty we really need to stick with our rankings. If you had jrob as a top rb, I wouldn't dismiss him. Likewise, if etn was your guy...I'd be tempted to check the price and maybe you could get him for a 1 in hopes he turns into the rb alot of us thought he could be.

Robinson is not the problem but expect a time share next year. It is the way the NFL is going. He really isn't electric in the passing game so there are a some limitations there. He does run hard so I expect him to be a factor going forward.

Everyone's favorite subject.

I don't get all the debate on him. He's clearly a talented RB who will get touches. Will he ever be a full time locked in workhorse? No, but he'll be fine long term. He can consistently pick up chunks and has good versatility.

RB2 for 2022, RB3 worst case scenario.

He’s a quality RB. He won’t disappear. He won’t be the workhorse with a back like ETN there, but an Ingram/Kamara structure would make sense.

I’m expecting RB2 next season, unlike the RB1 we’ve been lucky to get to date.

Agreed. I'm expecting a Kamara/Ingram esque split, but on a bad offense, so I think low end RB2 might be the most likely outcome.

Jrob has two years of production as a bellcow. To me that practically guarantees him a part of the offense. I think we will see more and more teams move to a 2rb committee. Jrob and Etienne (if he returns healthy) could be a one two punch in line with what we've seen with kamara Ingram or maybe even Chubb & hunt.

The biggest question is going to be are the jags competitive.

Agree for 2022, he will be the starter and get 50% of the Carrie’s similar to Gordon/Williams in 2021. They will work in ETN and make sure he’s healthy, but I don’t expect him to take the lead role until 2023.

That’s disappointing and I say that as an ETN owner, but that’s the likely scenario. I doubt they pay Robinson so they’ll get 1 more year of production before turning the keys to ETN.
