I couldn’t be happier with my rookie draft. Ended up with Harris, Pitts, Chase (1/3/4), Rondale Moore (12), Trey Lance (13), Zach Wilson (18) and Kadarius Toney (23). The QBs have been whiffs, but I think they will come around. My team will have Akers & ETN back next year. I traded picks 7&8 for #4. The owner took Lawrence and Sermon, I took Chase. I think I won?

Lol all the Wilson touters must be absolutely shocked to see Mike White looking multiple times better than Zach Wilson at any point this season. He’s young, but if I were a betting man he’s a bust.

Speaking of busts, Calvin Ridley has not looked good in this game. Crazy to say that Pitts is most likely the #1 option in this option.

Weird day. Hoping for any kind of garbage time production out of Mahomes. Awful day for KC.

Wouldnt be surprising to think someone looked better if they were mentally more comfortable with the NFL/aka less raw. Doesnt mean that person would be a better long term option. Throw a guy like Chase Daniel or Chad Henne under center and they would look better for now. Thats not what the Jets(or any nfl team) should be thinking about long term though

I don't have any stats to back this up but I feel like most high profile rookie QBs that immediately start without usurping an incumbent option (like how Russ did) more often than not end up busting. I get that there is a very low probability of success for QBs at the NFL level but essentially all of the elite QBs started training camp at least behind a vet (mahomes behind Smith, Brady behind Bledsoe, Russ behind Flynn, Lamar behind Flacco, Rodgers behind Favre) of the too talent in today's NFL only 2 were immediate starters without much competition when they came in, Herbert and Allen. Odd that teams are still throwing these kids out there without much help to get slaughtered by grown men.

Oddly enough there was a string of QBs that were immediate starters a decade ago that had perfectly fine careers (Ryan, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Mannings)

I feel like the best course of action is to let a QB grow behind a vet for a year or two without the pressure or expectations placed on immediate starters. Especially considering the team would have had to be pretty bad to have gotten a high pick to begin with

That's pretty awesome. It's great when your rookie draft works out so well.

I had the 1.12 pick in a 16 team 2 PPR TE Premium league. I traded away my entire 2021 and 2022 draft classes to trade up to the 1.02 to take Pitts. Everyone thought it was stupid at the time. He took Bateman, Mac Jones, Amon-Ra. I'm the winner so far and my team is once again well at the top of the standings. This makes two weeks in a row where Pitts has single-handedly carried my team to a win. Feels good.

I agree, but I think there’s been a change in expectations. I’m not entirely sure who’s to blame for it though. Is it the gms, coaches, fans, or few solid rookie immediate starters that caused the mindset shift? I don’t really know (most likely a combo right?), but waiting just doesn’t seem to be as much of an option for franchises anymore

People are way too quick to declare rookies busts...

(Also ... White has been pretty bad)

The Seahawks paid Matt Flynn 25 million over three years to be their starter during Russ's rookie year. They fully planned on Flynn being the starter, paying him starter money (for the time). He wasn't an incumbent, but the job wasn't handed to him either. He had to earn it.

But you do have a good point that it feels like rookie QBs who are handed the job don't fare too well. I think the majority of these rookie QBs look better than average atm.
