Kevin Ogletree nominations
Kevin Ogletree nominations
I'd like to nominate Juwan Johnson, who got 2 TDs on 3 targets for the saints in a blow, as a potential candidate for the Kevin Ogletree award. Maybe he can avoid it and be Winston's Robert Tonyan in the red zone to a Saints team that's largely missing talented pass catchers aside from Kamara

It's either Mitchell or Johnson for sure.

Those two do seem like the best candidates. I’d add Christian Kirk as well.

This as well. Kirk is probably rostered in most leagues but he's out there in 1 of mineRuggenater wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:54 am Those two do seem like the best candidates. I’d add Christian Kirk as well.
Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
Christian Kirk does not qualify, ihmo, because he's done more than flash in previous seasons and should not be in FA except in shallow / smaller (ie 8-10 team) leagues. Last year alone he had 3 20+ performances. This was not even his best performance - that was in 2019 when he went 6-138-3 in Week 10. That year he had 10+ points in 9 of the 13 weeks (missed 3). His career yrd/g is 50 - thats a respectable 800 yards a season - simply has not been able to play a full 16 game season (likely part fluke and part needs to improve conditioning). Point being - while this may be his best outing of 2021 - I strongly doubt it will be the only time he'll be useful in a lineup - especially as next week the Cardinals get the Vikings corners who struggled in Wk1.

Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
I'd go with
Van Jefferson 2-80-1 on 3 targets
or the already mentioned Juwan Johnson (although he's probably a sneaky add in 2 TE or TEP formats) or perhaps Pharaoh Brown (if Akins or Brevin Jordan can push past).
Probably one of the rare years where there arent many surprise out of the blue performances by no-names.

Agreed completely. I think the situation that led to Johnson and Mitchell having productive week ones will continue.

Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
I feel like these responses, outside of, Mitchell, don’t really qualify as Ogletree. Choosing not to believe in the guys who had 2 tds off 3 targets, or just 1 long ball and then 7 more yards, is just kind of common sense.

Zach Pascal.... although with the lack of WR in Indy, he could sustain. But he seems to drop a big game every year, then disappear, so he gets my vote

Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
To me, a true candidate is one that nobody gave any attention or thought to before, they get crazy popular, and then disappear forever.
Van Jefferson is the best nominee for this imo, with maybe a close second to Zay Jones.
Juwan Jefferson is a great nominee too, but he's such a big redzone target in a group of smallish pass-catchers, that I think he could be this year's Tonyan.

Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
Don't feel like Pascal would qualify. Hes been doing this for 3 years for the colts and this wasn't even his best game. Hes not flashy, but he's a consistent option for the colts and will be all season.

Re: Kevin Ogletree nominations
I mean, Mitchell is the only guy who even qualifies, right? The whole point in Ogletree was everyone wanted him and was sure he was this year's big breakout player. Johnson/Jefferson don't really have tons of hype I think most people know they just had a nice day on super limited targets and are willing to take a roll at the dice. Mitchell is the only one that has enough hype to warrant this. Even the people picking up Johnson/Jefferson are probably expecting them to not do much and end up being dropped for the next guy in a couple weeks.
Realistically even though it didn't happen in the exact same time frame (post week-1), Callaway seems like the most similar guy to Ogletree.
