i wouldn't give it much importance, if any.
Agreed, could be skewed by breaking one tackle & going 70yds while doing nothing on the next 20. Like to use the eyeball test as much as anything. These stats will get me to watch tape on a guy to see if the eye matches what's put on the paper. Vice versa some guys make great moves / runs to turn a 4 yd loss into a 1 yd gain which skews another oft quoted stat ... Avg Yds per Carry

Mitchell passes the test for me . If his usage in passing game continues to go up he's the real deal for me

I was able to buy for a 2024 1st last week but the window to buy at that price is probably closing if not closed depending on how attentive the owner is.

And he's probably out this weekend. Back to Jeff Wilson. I love this backfield

Its the easiest backfield to predict, if predicting injuries counts for much. Always roster the cheapest option, and don't pay an arm and a leg to draft the shiny new rookie.

Mitchell was hurt and they went right back to him. Little early to say he’s written off.

Who's writing him off?

I'll just say there hasn't been a consistent starter under Shanahan since going to SF.

Leading rusher by year:

2017 - Hyde
2018 - Breida
2019 - Mostert
2020 - Wilson
2021 - Mitchell

Buy high if you wish, but I just don't trust anyone in this backfield as a long-term asset.

The patriots sort of game plan RBs in and out. SF seems injury based.

After getting surgery to his finger, Mitchell reclaims the starting role from Jeff Wilson. He tied a season high in rush attempts (27), 2nd highest in rush yards (133). Season high in targets, tied for highest in catches, highest in receiving yards- 6/5/35.

Has Mitchell put the "he could lose his starting job to injury" talk to bed?

Yup. I was a Wilson hopeful but this is Mitchell's job. He has earned it. Health and consistency will help him keep the gig

I'm trying to keep my enthusiasm for him in check. He's not an RB1 in dynasty, is he? I know he has the Shanahan thing going on, but when do we stop ignoring the consistent production?

I think Shannan uses the best available to him, and that is Mitchell as long as he’s on the field.

Absolutely not. More than a little, he's been a zero in the passing game, and a lot of Shanny backs are. I liked him out of college, (and mistakenly didn't take him in my start 3 RB league in the 3rd round of my rookie draft, because he went in the 6th round, and Sermon went in the third) but he's a very replaceable player at this point. If he goes down, and another SF RB comes in and starts playing really well, there's no guarantee he gets his role back.

It seems this will be put to the test. Hope he;s OK, I like watching him.

All these Shanahan backs seem to blend together for me. Mitchell is the flavor of the month for now. Though I guess all SFO backs have gotten injured. Maybe that's why they haven't stuck.

If you're a fast RB on the Niners, they've got 100+ yards for you.
