Yeah this, but to be fair he was kept out of the endzone mysteriously several times in week 1. Two TDs this past week? That's fine. It all evens out.

What also helps is that every other RB in the NFL is getting hurt. Barkley hurt again. Monty out. CMC out. Cook out. It's the year of death to RBs. Gibson isn't on that injury list, so up he goes.

The WFT also isn't using McKissic or Patterson nearly as much as I anticipated. Gibson has a stress fracture in his shin. This is a 17 week season and the WFT can't afford to lose him. What do they do? GIVE HIM MORE TOUCHES! McKissic has 30 touches on the entire season. Gibson has nearly 80% of that in one game. I don't get it.

Every year I say I'm done predicting what coaches will do, yet every year I guess and every year I'm baffled by their decisions.

Why did the Niners draft Sermon?
Why did the Packers give loads of money to Aaron Jones despite drafting a RB in the 2nd round?
Why are the WFT driving Gibson into the ground when they have other RBs to keep him fresh?

I dunno, but that's why I love Fantasy Football.

As I've said in both of these wager threads, injuries will decide the top 12. Henry may be the only RB capable of missing time and still being top 12.

Currently, the 12th RB is only averaging 13.5 points per game through 5.

Its really making me question why we spend so many premium picks and assets on running backs? In my league we had Jamar Chase drop to 1.04 because of Etienne and Harris. This makes absolutley no sense to me since im a WR guy and prefer them over RB. Yet in my league we are basically forced to take a RB at 1.01 every year even if they are an inferior prospect to the Wr. I absolutely hate it and it drives me crazy. Im hoping this trend ends and WRs can be the thing again.

I am not sure I agree with this. Every year there is a RB that goes in rd 2 or 3 in rookie drafts that hits. Are they harder to find, yes, but my Nyheim Hines and James Robinson backfield team is dominating because I have studs everywhere else. Draft the best players and adjust accordingly.

I understand this but in my mind the supply of truly elite Wrs is not as high as we are led to believe. Id say 7-10 Wrs are truly elite DK, Hill, AJB, Adams, MT, JJ just to name a few. The vast majority show a lot of variance from week to week, basically there are a billion WR2s and this tends to lead to the belief that WRs are easy to acquire, when the really elite ones are just as rare. We have RB1s every year we find off the waiver wire, or 2nd and 3rd rounds, how many WR1s are we finding off the waiver wire?

Key here is that there are more elite WRs than there are elite RBs.

The delta between an Elite RB and an RB2 dwarfs the difference between an elite WR and a WR2.

This difference cascades as we drop further down position tier lists. Rb2 -> Rb3 > WR2 -> WR3; RB3 -> RB4 >>> WR3 -> WR4, etc.

The argument for why WRs should be valued higher has historically been because they have longer careers and are (slightly) less fragile.. but with the growing movement towards the passing game you'd much rather start a WR2/3 over an RB2 in ppr.

If WR2s continue to score this much more than RB2s we could see a WR biased valuing system in the future as the number of starting spots essentially becomes your WR + Flex spots (at least in deeper leagues).
