It's not like he was a good WR in college; he's not an amazing receiver.. and when you have a former NFL WR convert RB on your roster, they're probably going to play over you in obvious passing downs.

GIbson was a hybrid WR/RB in college, but he's seldom used in the passing game. I understand McKissic is superior to him in that area, but I still can't see why he's not used more like mentioned above. Give him the ball in open space and let him do what he does best. I understand the offense changed slightly with Fitz out, but you'd think it would gear more towards Gibson usage than taking away from him. It's week 2 and I'm still looking forward to watching him run for 300 yards against the Cowboys.

I agree. And it's been said a bit before, but McKissic is better as a 3rd down role. But it's also probably that they trust Gibson more on the ground than McKissic and want to keep both guys fresh. Both RB can do both, but I'd expect to continue seeing Gibson take most of the rushing work and JDM take most of the receptions. Both will mix in and overall, you'll see more Gibson most weeks, but it's still a split for now

Yep, that was just my short cut way of saying it might simply be that Gibson could be "ok..." in 3rd down/2-minute while McKissic is very strong. Basically, what you say- don't think because he's a former WR that Gibson is strong in that role. And, in two minute drill crunch time, there's more that comes into play than just catching the ball. McKissic could well be far superior in those ancillary skills.

No, what he is is a guy you want to get the ball to in space at times and let his physical abilities take it from there. That’s something WAS hasn’t taken advantage of yet, but given the coaching staff’s vision for RBs I’d expect that we’ll start seeing some of that in the near future. There were definitely opportunities for it on Thursday where he was wide open in space 5-8 yds downfield in the center of the field. Those are easy yards and with Gibson’s ability could turn into large chunk plays.

It’ll happen. Rivera and his staff are not stupid, they’ll start taking advantage of it. I think they were just controlling his touches Thursday because of the shoulder injury and not wanting to worsen that - shoulder injuries are exceptionally tough on RBs because they take so much contact there.

Patience is warranted.

That's his best chance imo. He's great in open space (most Rbs are) but he ran against a brick wall this past week. He has Atlanta next, but then he faces several tough run defenses back to back to back.

He makes an amazing play, that only a few RB's in the league could make, and they decide not to put the ball in his hands in the passing game again all game. Makes sense.

I was told any RB could make that play, i laughed. Here is the thing. Its week 3, we dont know if they are saving Gibson a bit for the later half of the season. They have to know he is an explosive play maker, the also have to know he is a pretty good runner once he gets going. I just wonder if they dont want to overuse him this early in the game. Also some of these Game scripts have been out of control for WFT and i dont think any of us saw that coming.

RB17ish through 3 games. Right after Robinson and before Pollard. Yup those are the guys I think about when I hear the name Gibson.

Don't hold your breath, the amount of times I've told myself "they have to know he is an explosive play maker" about a player is beyond count hahaha, if we have to rely on teams doing what what "we" think is obvious (whether we are right or wrong) then we are already in some trouble .
