All the fantasy sites I know of count the entire regular season stats when determining rank for upcoming season.

Notice that "success" is italicized, which I did on purpose because success is subjective. For the record, I hope he is successful and he has a great career. I want him to have all the happiness and riches he can earn, because he's just a kid trying to make a buck. He's working hard every day to give us lazy fans enjoyment and entertainment, being paid by billionaires to do so. I can fully respect that. I want him to succeed.

But he won't succeed by my definition. He's in his sophomore year, the offense will feature more passing than last season, JD McKissic is still on the team as a darn fine pass catcher, and Jaret Patterson lit up preseason games week after week.

Hard not to view a top 12 season as "success" by just about any metric, dynasty, or otherwise, and going forward.

Normally I'd agree with you, except I seem to recall people believing he would be a top half RB generally and really the next CMC. A low end rb1 certainly is good, but I think many who bought into Gibson last off season are disappointed.

Fair enough. Personally, I didn't think he had a shot at top 10 (and wanted no part of the bet, as I thought it was stacked pretty hard against him) and I think his circumstances were about as poor as possible this year. You'd have to be an absolute die-hard believer to think he'd have even sniffed top 10 once the 1-2 of Fitz going down + the injury happening early.

He still gutted it out through a season-long injury, and produced a 12th place (pending) finish with Taylor Heiny as his QB.

That's impressive to me. I did not think he had that in him.

Also seeing #9 in the official league link. If you want to claim a partial victory, it looks like Gibson would have been #10 if Mike’s league counted Cordarrelle Patterson as a RB (as pretty much every other league/platform does).

Gibson ended up right around where I expected this year on a PPG basis (#20), but benefitted from less games missed to injury than those above him. Was overhyped for sure last offseason (next CMC!), but I was personally too low on him. Still not a player I’m looking to buy.

I think Gibson's final standing is an indication of how low the bar is to get into the top 12 RBs these days. Feels like we're due for another influx of rookie RBs that are quickly going to be very valuable as the old guard has aged out.

Drafted Gibson in most leagues and not disappointed at all. He played injured much of the year but gave it 100% on a team so bad they don't even have a name not to mentioned they lost their QB and best defensive player.

Disappointed in the situation, maybe but his owners shouldn't be disappointed in him at all.
