The reality is RB's are simply more disposable assets in the NFL and the true 3 down back is becoming rare as more teams draft for specialist. There will always be the do it all Ekeler types but they are becoming more rare and the points as someone brought up are down. there are around 15 RB's that score on average 15 points or better which probably decreases late as injuries happen vs around 25 WR's.

Value of RB's is high and leagues that force starting two becoming stagnant.

My most competitive league went to a must start 1 RB league and then increased the flex positions to better give owners more flexibility. This also brought RB pricing more in line and increased competition and league stability.

Just changing with the times as the league is more into QB and passing these days. Obviously, many will scoff and play old school FF.

I bought 2 weeks ago, but I'm in full tank mode and am hoping he can take over this backfield next year, also hoping they have a new young rookie QB on the roster as well.

I roster him in multiple leagues, but I don't think he's going to ever get more usage than he is now. I'd prefer a D'Andre Swift style role. More targets, less carries.

His usage is very odd, but you can tell the injury is hampering what could be. No excuses, but it's not looking good. Worth a buy "low" or are we looking at a flash? They'll upgrade QB next year which could help him.

What I expected to happen all season long finally happened this week: Patterson ate into his carries and nearly all passing downs, hurry-up offenses, and designed pass plays went to JD McKissic.

Gibson is RB18 and is on a bye week. Despite all these injuries to RBs, Gibson is having a hard time climbing the fantasy points ladder, and going forward it may be even harder with these two RBs in the mix.

And just because people made fun of me:

JD McKissic is more than capable on passing downs, and I think the emergence of Patterson is going to allow coaches to sub Gibson more frequently this season.

Gibson was fed more last year than I think he will be this year.. Plus he's not a natural RB out of college, and RBs entering their sophomore season tend to have a slump. Add it all up, and I think everyone's expectations are far too high on this kid.

RB21 would be if everyone was healthy all year long. I think WFT will work to keep Gibson safe and injury free or else I'd go even lower.

So yeah, RB18.

While I don't disagree completely, pretty safe to say Patterson is being given more of an opportunity due to Gibson's lingering shin injury, not necessarily due to his ability as a rusher.

The Gibson injury has been known to the coaching staff since earlier this year, and Patterson wasn't in to spell him until this week. That is significant because he was officially removed from the injury report two days ago. He practiced in full last week for the first time in several weeks, and is on record as saying his shin injury is behind him.

Which shocks the heck out of me because I thought he had a chipped bone that needed several months to heal.

Im out, i sold him for a haul and cashed out. I got him at pick 2.10 in 2020 and was very happy with that but then this ridiculous hype train ran through the offseason and i just hated it. I knew the guy was screwed unless he finished as a top 8 RB. I think i learned a lesson here, if the hype gets too high for your tastes on a guy then sell him for a haul and get out then. Probably could have sold him for a top 4 2021 pick and gotten Pitts Najee or Chase.
