Cameron Giles wrote: Tue Jan 11, 2022 5:49 pm Yeah, it would be pretty surprising if Williams stays. I could still see him going in the 2nd round of the actual draft.
And savvy owners wouldn't hesitate to snatch him in the late 1st. I grabbed Chubb at 1.10 when he came out after injury... pretty happy I did! I've got the 1.11 this year in one league and likely wouldn't hesitate on him if he were available there.
1.10?!?! How in hell did he slip that far? Gone no later than 1.04-1.05 in my 1QB leagues and typically 1.07-1.09 in 2QB. Wondering the sweet spot for him in this draft, probably the 1/2 turn. But the process always seems to push up guys by May June. In start ups Etienne and Dobbins seemed to drop about 30-40 slots due to injury, Akers dropped about 85 slots. ADP in April-May should give us a better idea
Hindsight is always 20/20, but I don't think it was THAT uncommon for him to fall that late in that draft. Injured people always get discounted for immediate production, and the patient can sometimes win by snagging injured players.

Will be interesting to see where Williams drops to given his ACL...

I definitely think 1.10 was uncommon, even with the landing spot being less than ideal at the time. He was top 5 in non-superflex.

I remember consensus was
Barkley
Guice
Sony/Chubb/Penny
RoJo/Kerryon/Royce

Maybe some had a few in those last 2 tiers flip flopped (and Guice later, as I did, but he was most peoples #2), but the only other 2 that might have gone ahead of Chubb were DJM and Ridley. If SF, then probably 2-3 QB went ahead

I remember wanting RoJo and Royce. Owned 1.6&1.8. RoJo went 1.5 so I took Chubb 1.6. Royce then went 1.7 so I took Kerryon at 1.8. Traded Kerryon after his first season with some loose change for future picks. Sometimes good things fall into your lap.

This 2018 class talk has me wondering what the percentage chance is that 2023 turns out this way? I remember that class being hyped for the RBs. I think 2023 will live up to the hype but 2018 is reminding me there is always a chance it doesnt.

2018 was more hyped for the QBs

And sometimes you end up with Penny and RoJo like me... although basically anyone but Barkley and Chubb were wasted picks. There's been good times to flip all of them, for sure. But I bet most owners didn't

I had Chubb and Penny above Guice, personally. What a disappointing class that turned out to be.

I wasn't a huge Guice and Ridley(big miss) guy, but I agonised over Chubb and DJM for weeks at 1.05 in my draft, Rojo fell to 1.09 which was interesting.

I really wanted Penny early on but was told he was getting taken at 1.03 in mine, happy with Chubb in the end.

I absolutely adored Guice that draft, it went Barkley / Guice / Penny in my draft. I took Chubb and Lamar 1.04 / 1.05.

Not content with that though, I went shopping over the next season-and-some. Eventually bought low on Guice and Penny after their injuries.

What a delight those guys turned out to be

Guice would have been so good, it’s depressing.

I think Gus Edwards signed an extension prior to the injury that keeps him in Baltimore another 2 years.

Remember when Phillip Lindsay’s size and draft capital didn’t matter? Pepperidge Farm remembers…
