Way Way Too Early 2022 Draft Thread

Postby Lazy Ass Mastermind » Sun Oct 04, 2020 8:56 am

For those of us starting to rebuild, I was wondering if we could start a discussion on what the 2022 draft looks like from the limited information that we have now.

How does it stack up against 2021, 2020, 2019, etc?

If you’re in a rebuild and you can start accumulating 2022 picks is it a good draft to target?

Thanks!
12 Team, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, Flex, TE, DEF, K
QB: Joe Burrow, Justin Fields
RB: Najee Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson, Aaron Jones, James Conner, Jamaal Williams, Isiah Pacheco

TE: Dallas Goedert, Evan Engram
DST: Dallas Cowboys
K: Tyler Bass

Definitely too early to say, but my Devy league I own UNC QB Sam Howell and UGA WR George Pickens, both have a good chance at being #1 at their positions.

We'll have a better idea after this season concludes, but George Pickens is a player that I'm excited about

Entirely Way Too Early 2022 Draft Thread

Postby tresskid84 » Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:47 am

I am fascinated by the 2019 recruiting class and what they have or have not done so far. There were a TON of high recruits at offensive skill positions that year, and so far, there havent been a ton of true early breakouts like some recent classes. What are your thoughts? Who are you looking forward to watching next year to get a better idea of who is going to emerge and separate from the pack?

The guys that intrigue me the most, so far, are:

QB: Rattler and Howell have separated early for me, but a bunch of intriguing names out there beyond them

RB: This position is fascinating, because right now, Ealy would be a top 2 guy for, but will he even stick with football? Breece Hall is obviously off to a great start. Liked what I've seen from Zonovan Knight. Obviously there the group of Spiller, Emery, and Sanders. Noah Cain looked solid last year, will be interested to see him next year in a crowded PSU backfield.

WR: Pickens and Wilson seem like the early top 2. Treylon Burks looks extremely intriguing from a physical standpoint. David Bell has produced quite well too. Wandale Robinson looks very dynamic, he seems likely to stay at wr in the NFL. Metchie showed some promise this year. A lot of the other top recruits from that year, we havent seen enough from yet.

TE: Clearly, to me, Wydermyer, and to a lesser extent, Stogner have been the two main guys to emerge. Whyle's size concerns me some, but he had a heck of a year for Cincy statistically (didn't watch them much myself though).

The guys you named are pretty much all the same ones I have my eye on right now. I think Spiller ends up the RB1 and likely 1.01 and I love Pickens as a player, although he has some maturity and on-field conduct issues.

Wydermyer looks like a good TE. I think he would be a Round 1-2 (in the actual draft) if he was eligible this year.

2022 doesn't excite me that much though. We're overdue for a weaker draft and I think this will be it.

Are there any top guys that haven't declared this year that are likely to return to school? Similar to ETN last year

We won't know for a few weeks officially. The biggest potential draft eligble prospect who is highly likely to stay is Justyn Ross, and that's for pretty obvious reasons with the neck injury.

Pass on an RB this year--trade back to go QB/WR and collect capital needed to solidify a move up for RB next year

Najee or especially ETN<<<Spiller/Hall/Ealy

TBD on Emery and Sanders--haven't seen enough

Yeah, 2019 had a ton of very high recruits at rb that so far haven't exactly shown a ton. Sanders, Emery, Ealy, Charbonnet, Ford, Robinson, and Noah Cain were all in the 247 top 100. Ealy has probably shown the most out of those 8 (maybe Robinson, but he has mostly switched to WR).

I'm not the biggest Kyren fan. He just looks like a good college rb to me, though he does look pretty comfortable in the passing game.

He had a pretty solid season for a freshman , 1100+ rush yards, 300+ receiving yards and 15 total tds. He impressed me with his tough between the tackles running, good hands and was very elusive in one on one situations. I think if he puts on another 10-15 pounds he has the size to be a 3 down rb at the next level.

I do agree, he runs very tough for his size. I just more think of him as a Wayne Gallman level rb (this is in terms of overall skill, not a comp of styles or anything like that). I think he could do perfectly fine if given a chance, but he doesnt stand out to me.

I'm holding out for Bijan Robinson in 2023.
