His blocking helps keep him on the field even if he's not getting many targetsPullo Vision wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 10:25 pmThis isn't a Pittman thread but 97% stands out.Ruggenater wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:21 amOut of 76 offensive snaps, the WR group was as follows:

Thanks much appreciated - and yes I think so - he's taking the steps you need to show the coaches (and Wentz) he can be trusted and that will lead to an enhanced role if the opportunity arises.Shoreline Steamers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:20 pmCan confirm. I was watching the game, and that was something that stood out. Would have liked to see a few more targets, but perhaps they'll come as the season progresses.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

Seems to be another training camp darling that met the grim realities of real NFL football.

And now he'll take up a roster spot until next year's "he's turning heads!" column for a longshot drops.Orenthal Shames wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:56 pmPeople were saying they'd turn down 2nds for him earlier in this thread.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:00 pm A 3rd round pick sounds mighty delicious right about now

Re: Mike Strachan...hype or real deal?
Oh for Pete’s sake. The guy is 6 games into his career. He was a 7th round WR going into a full room competing with vets who have been there, a D2 guy (meaning he lost an entire year of college football) who is learning his craft. He’s on a team that has a coaching staff that has made some question personnel decisions and could easily be on the way out after this year.
So out come the FF guys with 20/20 hindsight and redraft mentality and per their expertise have decided that his career in now terminal and he has no possible FF future and decide they want to grandstand about it. And they could be right - but it’s definitely WAY too early to tell, and given that his cost of acquisition was minimal and that as a dynasty player that owners ought to be using practice squad spots on guys just like Strachan, what exactly were your expectations?
I’m curious what those shoveling dirt on his NFL grave were reasonably expecting at this point in his career. That he’d bypass Pittman and Hilton and should be putting up at least WR3 numbers right now?

Re: Mike Strachan...hype or real deal?
Is there really 20/20 hindsight if people called what would happen? Those were literally the reasons to sell. How is it too early? Is he just going to eventually beat out better players? What are your realistic expectations for him becoming fantasy relevant?
Across the league, these 7th round and UDFA players typically get cut within their first few seasons. Teams aren't building long-term development plans with them. They're expendable. If they don't show anything quickly, they're usually gone.

Just further proof that it's really hard to make it to fantasy relevance in the NFL. Strachan looked good, but he had too many things working against him. Maybe he works out somewhere in the future, but chances are slimmer by the day.

So we’re just going to continue the same tired argument of those who demand immediate results vs those who see potential given desirable characteristics/demonstrated ability in TC/PS? Fine, do it without me.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 5:56 am Is there really 20/20 hindsight if people called what would happen? Those were literally the reasons to sell. If you’re certain that a 3rd FF pick next year will be better than what Strachan could develop into then you should be trading right now.

If late round/undrafted guys aren't immediately showing out, there's a pretty good chance they never will. Patience doesn't work with a 7th rounder.

You can see where I stand pretty easily throughout this thread. You can call it tired if you want, but the objective reality is that 7th rounders do not have a big window to impress. They are immediately expendable and have very short careers in the NFL. There is no long-term development plan for any 7th round pick.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 6:44 amSo we’re just going to continue the same tired argument of those who demand immediate results vs those who see potential given desirable characteristics/demonstrated ability in TC/PS? My point has never been that a 3rd round pick has a significantly better chance of success; it's that a 3rd round pick is more sustainable currency to use in the trade market than random long shot players with preseason hype columns. You can use it to sweeten deals very easily for really good players.
Would anyone trade a 3rd for Strachan right now? I wouldn't be shocked if he's on waivers in 12 team leagues right now.

And my point is that with your mentality, you will always miss out on the Darren Wallers and Arian Fosters and Antonio Browns and Steve Smiths. Always. Because none of them produced any kind of meaningful stats within the time frame that you demand.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:18 amYou can see where I stand pretty easily throughout this thread.
