Value of Randall Cobb

Postby Niceguy » Wed May 02, 2012 8:50 pm

I am thinking of dropping Randall Cobb because I have too many WRs and there is good value on the waiver wire in my league. For example, Demaryius Thomas is unowned going into this year. Is there anything to lose by trying to get the 3.05 out of Cobb? Is that too little to ask for Cobb?

I don't have much experience in small (<10) leagues, but I don't see Cobb being terribly valuable in an 8-team league like yours. It would certainly be better to get some value, like 3.05, out of him than no value, though it's hard to see whoever you grab at 3.05 being more valuable than Cobb.

You would basically be dropping 3rd or 4th option on a heavy passing team for a 1st or 2nd option on a soon to be heavy passing team. You have a young WR core I doubt Cobb would move up your rotation by the time any of those guys retire.

I love Randall Cobb and will hold him as long as it takes in my 12 team league, but I can understand cutting bait in an 8 team league. It'll be very interesting to see how the Packers use him this season...the cream always rises to the top.

Drop Cobb for Thomas in a cocaine heartbeat. I'm surprised you don't have any takers on him, seems like in every league there's one guy who thinks he's a future perennial Pro-Bowler.

He's the only good Packer I was able to get. I'll be holding onto him for a while as well.

I'd drop Burleson before Cobb.

I am already decided on dropping Burleson, Tebow, and Webb. In our shallow league there are upgrades to all of these guys in waivers. For example, Dalton for Tebow, Titus Young for Burleson, D'qwell jackson for Webb

BTW, I would have already dropped these guys and added their replacement except that FA pickups are not allowed in the offseason. So I am stuck waiting for the Rookie/FA draft and hoping that the guys in my league don't see the same tremendous value in waivers that I see.

I'd prefer to cut Gerhart or Hardesty before cutting Cobb. He is a longer-range add, though, so in an 8-team, it may not be worth it to be so patient.

Are we on Randall Cobb watch?

Postby Shortie » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:44 pm

Rumors out of Green Bay have them shopping James Jones now. Driver is on his farewell tour this year...

With the news of Jones on the block, I say this is huge Cobb news if it all comes true. What say ye?
