Who is this years arian foster?

Postby Broncopain » Fri Sep 16, 2011 8:47 am

I think we are all looking for that next big thing... In your eyes who is the next Arian Foster?? Who should we be keeping an eye out for or possibly stash on our rosters?

Thanks I would love to hear the answers.

I'm going with Reggie Bush, but most likely only in a PPR style format. Granted he isn't coming out of nowhere, but he can or could've been had for cheap. If he stays healthy I think he'll finish with fantastic numbers.

I don't think either guy will have numbers like Arian had last year, but both Wells and Hightower as stated above. I can see both ending up with 1,400 YFS by the end of the season, and double digit TD's.

Ryan Mathews if Tolbert gets hurt! JStew if DWill gets hurt! ;) I can only really think of guys that need an injury ahead of them to make a giant impact the way Foster did. Maybe Beanie Wells (health permitting). I don't expect anyone to produce like Foster did last year except for Ben Tate in that same offensive situation.

Hightower is a good guess, but I don't expect it. He could still post top-20 numbers but no way is he finishing as the #1 overall RB. I'd bet the farm on that. Any of the handcuffs could make huge impacts - if they get a shot.

Bottom line is this: there just aren't that many late-round or UDFA picks with jobs that have the path to playing-time it would require. Foster was a UDFA that finished as the #1 RB. That's some tough to top criteria! So here we go - the guys with the best shot: Darren Evans, RB, IND. The problem there is that Indy has no QB and fields a crappy group run-blocking offensive lineman.

I agree. I don't see anyone who can duplicate Foster's 2010 or Michael Turner's 2008.

One way to see the Foster question: Which RB buried on his team's depth chart has the best chance to be listed among the top-5 RBs in dynasty listings at the end of the season?

Ideas-
Hightower- buried in ARI after struggles with fumbles in 2010; traded to WAS crowded with coach's pet and high pick; now entrenched as starter
Johnny White- Spiller shows no ability to run between the tackles, meaning only a Fred Jackson injury stops him from a prime role in an innovative, Chan Gailey-offense
Donald Brown- doesn't do what Peyton Manning needs from a RB- pass-blocker, outlet receiver. However, can break big plays and Indy's season may already be circling the drain. The Colts may bench oldies like Collins and Addai to evaluate young players like Brown.
Tashard Choice- proven NFL skills, and in a strong offense, but sits behind two RBs who historically have struggled with injuries
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

The way its looking Arian Foster is an underdog to be this year's Arian Foster. To be honest, I wish they would sit him this week and get his hammy to 100%.

Then he will get about the business of being himself. All this talk about Ben Tate is nice, but Foster will get all of his touches when he is healthy.

if he didnt break his ankle we'd only know foster as the guy stealing 20-25% of tates reps.

my breakout guys list was

knowshon
tate
best
spiller
wells

so far 2 arn't panning out so well

guys I felt would slip a bit were

CJ2k
arian foster
Dwill
both giants RB's
ryan grant
and every NE RB who isn't a rookie.

James Starks. His major concern is the TD vulcher Kuhn.
