2021 Injury Thread

Maxx Williams feared to have suffered a season ending knee injury.

That injury was grusome. Hard to watch. He won't be playing another snap this season.

Tough news as he grew up in a neighboring community - just down the road 15 min.

Juju season ending shoulder surgery. I actually like him as a buy low option. The offense in PIT has been underwhelming for a couple years now and if he joins somewhere as a 1b option I think he'll thrive.

He's still a good player. He will never hit the heights of his 2nd year again, but He can still be a high volume player in the right system. He's capable of big plays and TD's, but the Steelers just used him as a slot/possession guy the last few years. Hard to believe next year he'll basically just be entering what is considered a WR's prime years.

Not really fantasy related, but this will at least partially crater the market for him this offseason. I know that the salary cap is expected to get a boost next year, but I didn’t like him going back to PIT on a one-year deal to showcase his talent when his QB was a washed-Big Ben. Some team will likely be able to scoop him for millions cheaper than they would have been able to last offseason now.

I really don't want to say I saw this coming, but I sold CMC last year and acquired Hubbard everywhere since, even in redraft.

Also glad I haven't sold Hubbard yet, I'm curious to see his development.

I do feel bad for CMC though because he's an absolute weapon when playing and I like when that offense is rolling

I'd trade him for a random first. I'm not trading a 1st to get him.

My theory is players who have multiple injuries in their past will have multiple injuries in their future. I don't roster guys with multiple injuries. I was avoiding CMC like the plague. I'm also avoiding Cook and Barkley. They're great talents and might be great people, but their bodies (like most people's bodies) can't handle the NFL game for very long.

It's hard to say "regardless of roster situation" because context always matters. However, if I had a relatively deep RB squad, at this point I'd trade Chuba for a 1st. Also, if I was rebuilding or in the middle of a lost season (1-4), I'd take the 1st and move on.

No matter CMC's long-term health situation, the Panthers have too much invested in him to make a quick decision to turn over the starting job to Chuba. As soon as CMC is medically cleared, he'll be the starter. And it will be the same after CMC's subsequent injury. For that uncertainty of Chuba's role, I'd take a 1st for him.

If CMC had a career ending injury, I'd probably hold Chuba, but that's not the case right now.

Random 1st? Maybe, maybe not, but that's because I'm competing and he's sliding in nicely for bye weeks/injuries. Giving him up would help my RB deficient opponents and any buyers would likely be a late 1st.

I don't think buyers are offering a late 1st up though so he's a hold for me, which is how I felt a few weeks back when I got a mid 2nd offer for him

I'm probably too high on Hubbard btw. CMC isn't going anywhere. A 1st can help a lot of teams though if you pick the right player so it's tempting
