Kyle Trask, Kellen Mond and Davis Mills

Postby StripesOfKC » Tue May 11, 2021 1:04 pm

The three second tier QBs drafted almost consecutively on day 2 and currently going in the 3rd and even 4th round of SF drafts...

Obviously not a huge hit rate for QBs picked in this range but these guys seemed to me to get more buzz than most 2nd/3rd round picks do

In Superflex which if any are you shooting darts at late and why?

Davis Mills has the quickest path to opportunity. Some have stated he would’ve probably been taken in the 1st if he went back for another year. With the Texans it is a toss-up if that means he will succeed at all, but he might be serviceable on a Drew Lock kind of level. Trask is who I would target next with Brady being out in a year or two, Trask could be groomed to succeed.

I think Mills has the highest chance to be a franchise QB (Think Kirk Cousins).

Mond has the highest chance to be a top 10 QB (Think Dak Prescott).

Kyle Trask is the most likely to be a multi year starting QB (Brad Johnson).

In the 3rd I'm probably leaning Mond, then Mills, then Trask

Mills = longest career
Mond = Highest potential ceiling
Trask = Good Backup

I like your comparisons. But also think Mond has the lowest floor of the two. Typically correlates to highest ceiling.

I think Mond is the long term play and will be the starter by mid season 2022. Kirk's last year with the Vikings will be 2022. Mond is a legit dual threat QB. He is in a good situation with talent, coaching, and a good QB to learn from.

I also like Mills quite a bit. He needs more experience but is really in a difficult situation with the dumpster fire that is the Houston Texas these days.

I see Trask as career backup type personally. He will look good holding a clipboard and probably be a coach someday.

I've been seeing these guys start to go right around the 2/3 turn in 12 team superflex. I favor Mills of the 3, since he'll have a decent shot to show something this year, so there's added benefit of knowing what you have by next offseason. Mond seems like he'll have a chance to win a long term job in 1.5-2 years, but I think that's a bit long to wait for what I consider still pretty low odds of hitting.

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I will never invest in a back up to Tom Brady until he is gone. Period.

Give me Mills

The problem with investing in Mills is that if Watson doesn't return and Houston earns an early draft pick in 2022 they may want to draft their future franchise QB next year. And if Watson does return, there's no chance that Mills starts.

Mills and Mond noth seem to have solid long term hope and potential. If you have the space, stashing both is a great way to go. Mills as mentioned, has the quickest path in theory as Watson could be gone in Houston one way or another.

I have had to make this decision a few times.
I have mixed it up. in leagues without a taxi, I took Mills (hoping to flip him this season)
in leagues with a taxi, I took Mond. hearing that Houston was going to draft Mond seems like a good reason to take him over Mills
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc

Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
