Thoughts on Damien Harris

Postby dvpkwys » Sun Aug 11, 2019 11:16 am

What do people expect of him this year, assuming Sony stays healthy? I was able to grab him in the mid rounds of my rookie draft so I was happy to get him, just not sure of expectations for the short and long term. I may try to move him to a RB needy team.
10 Team - NON PPR (5 Round Rookie Draft) - Start 2QB, 2RB, 4WR, 1TE, 1FLEX, 4DB, 4LB/DL/DB

Burrow/Howell (Murray, Geno)
Taylor/Swift (Sanders, Conner, Gibson, Miller, Spears Lenny)
Adams/Godwin/Higgins/McLaurin (DJ Moore, Hopkins, Tillman)
Kelce (Hockenson)
Budda/Holland/Blackmon/Minkah (Sydney Brown)
Bosa/Bernard/Okereke/EJones (Elliss)

Will depend if the Pats keep Burkhead around or not. Sony is the clear starter. Develin is the fullback. Bolden signed some decent guaranteed money, but will be working mostly special team. Harris is guaranteed a spot due to his draft position. White will be in there as well which would normally be a full corp of RBs. That said, with Bolden mostly special teams and White being used so often as a receiver, it’s possible Burkhead grabs a spot as well. If Burkhead is still around, I wouldn’t count on Harris to do much of anything this year. If he somehow gets cut, then maybe there is some flex appeal and some potential should Michel go down with an injury.

I really wasnt very high on him before the draft. I raised one eyebrow when the Pats took him where they did. But I aint raisin' two eyebrows. I will just avoid this backfield entirely.

I think the question you ask will determine the answer you get.

For example what I expect out of Damian Harris is different from what I would hope to see and is also different from what could be seen/happen.

Basically I expect the Patriots to be the Patriots, and to mix/match their game plan to fit their personnel (healthy) and the opponent du jour. So if Harris is the RB that bests fits their gameplan that week, and he is healthy, then I expect him to be featured (that week). However if Michel or White are the best weapon(s) to be used based on that weeks gameplan (and are healthy), then I do not expect to see Harris featured that week.

I expect a fantasy roller coaster! And that's the high end. But I'm sure some folks expect a lot more, which I also get.

I have real concerns about Sony Michel's knees. While any Patriots back is a roller coaster, Harris' value will spike in the next year or two when Michel is out with injury or fumbles.

Not sure if Harris is a long term back if he gets the job, but his current value is a bargain.

Is Harris ever going to get a shot, since their best back is now Tom Brady?!?!

Patriots have completely whiffed on their offensive draft picks the last couple years.

Damien Harris and Dexter Williams are both MIA for mysterious reasons, and they both have coaches who will give you zero info about them. Guess they're hurt and/or not ready, who knows?

I wasn't high on Harris but he fell to me at 2.12 and I felt I had to take him there. It's obvious that Harris is not in the Patriots 2019 plans, if everyone stays healthy, but I have no idea what that means for him moving forward. He has talent, but I think his value is more in the Rex Burkhead, complimentary role, than that of a lead back. We shall see. He'll probably get his chance at some point, we won't know anything about him until then.

I'm not too surprised by his lack of usage. His value is unchanged for me as I wasn't expecting to be able to start him this year regardless.

We'll probably need a Sony Michel injury to see him, or wait til 2020.

So what are we doing with Damien Harris?

Postby ManuManu » Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:17 am

Seems like a pretty steady drum beat for him. Are people trying to cash out or ride it out a little longer?

I'm so done with the NE backfield outside of James white. I'd sell any of them if I could get a decent offer
