I feel like it's being forgotten that Damien Harris is actually a talented player

90.3 PFF Grade on 5 yards per carry with a 28.2% juke rate (number 8), 40 evaded tackles (number 24 despite being well below that in touches), 1.7 yards created per touch (number 9) despite facing the 2nd most stacked boxes in the NFL

None of this screams "guy who's about to be outplayed by Rhamondre Stevenson and Sony Michel" lol

NE has four 1000yd seasons in the last 20 years. Belichick doesn't usually focus on one RB. The last time NE (under Coach B) had one RB post 1200 yards was never. For comparison, Pittsburgh has had more than twice as many 1000yd season in that time as NE. Going further, Pittsburgh has had more 1200+ yards seasons in the last 20 years than NE has had 1000yd seasons.

Belichick doesn't usually focus on one RB. Most seasons he has two or three RBs with 300-600 yards each. It's possible Bill will see some Blount/CoreyDillon in Damien but I would never assume Bill is going to use any RB as a 3down back until I see it happen.

If I had Damien, I'd probably hold him because it's not likely anyone would offer more than a late 2nd and at that price I'd rather see what happens. If I didn't have him, I wouldn't offer much to get him unless I was in a gambling mood. Or desperate.

I think Damien is talented, but he's stuck in the wrong system. Move Damien to the Steelers under Tomlin and I think he'd get 1500 total yards and 18 TDs. Not so much in NE under Bill.

That sounds !like a buy low on a free agency gamble after his rookie contract.

Made a recent trade, Swift and Landry for Calvin Ridley and Damien. I think thats about right for Damiens value. I wanted another Running back body after getting rid of swift, I also already have James White so its good to have another RB on this NE offense that can be frustrating for RBs. If Harris or White are relevant this year than it fills in a flex spot so ill be happy. Harris certainly is talented but the system is just annoying.

Agree, but Rhamondre Stevenson has showed well too. Given NE's tendencies at the position, I err on the side of caution expecting a massive workload from one RB there.

Agreed with Stevenson (mentioned it in a other thread). But I think Harris will get first crack at the starts and Stevenson (who has shown well later in preseason games) will be given carries to rest Harris.

Good bump for Harris

But, trusting early down New England backs year to year still remains harmful. Stevenson probably gets a bump too. Just not one of those situations I'm interested in.

Belichick using firsts on Michel and Harry....phew.

Hopefully he gets it right with mac Jones. Track record hasn't be great.

Rhamondre Stevenson train leaving the station... holding strong to my flag plant on him being primary ball carrier by last third of season, despite NEs RB usage tendencies in past years.

If I rostered any of the NE backs, I would be looking to sell high on this news. I still think this will be a committee and as long as Cam is there he will vulture TDs around the goalline. I wouldn't be shocked to see a goalline package with Cam even when Mac Jones takes over.

I think its Sony who gets the value bump and not any of the NE RBs.

My thoughts exactly. Sell this news. BB isn't changing his tune now. Even if Harris does become the primary early down back, we've all seen how quickly that can change with the weekly gameplan or an untimely fumble.

Don't sell for peanuts, but I'd be shopping.

I’m a Bateman hater who targeted Harris / traded for him (in March). Even with this bias, you mash accept that in my opinion
