2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
Couldn't find a rookie sleeper thread.
LAR took UCF WR Jacob Harris. 6'5", 219 lb, 11 foot plus broad, 4.4 (or lower) 40. Various pre draft articles call him a sleeper and that he's a big guy who wins downfield and in contested catch situations. Rams showed interest pre draft. Some considered he'd be making a change to TE.

Good call I think. He's about a foot taller than their 2nd rounder lol

Elijah Mitchell got the call from SF in the 6th round. If you have a flyer list, he ought to be at the or near the top of it.

In my RB heavy leagues, teams are burning major money to get Hawkins. I was able to get him at more reasonable costs in my WR leagues.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:47 pmLike Javian Hawkins as a UDFA in Atlanta as wellBronco Billy wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:23 pmRountree is a great call and that’s a great spot for him to land.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 1:20 pm Mitchell is a good one

Seeing teams gun after Kylen Grandson, TE for Indy. Apparently, coach talked him up post draft.
I thought I'd be able to sneak some Dez Fitzpatrick buys in cheap after some leagues' post draft waivers, but got repeatedly out-bid.
If you're desperate for potential WR production, Sage Suratt is worth a look. Not necessarily a long term play, but the Detroit WR corps seems to be very open. Hey, Mike Furrey wasn't a long term producer but very useful in a short window.

Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
I picked up Colts WR Mike Strachan late. 6’-5” 225 lb D2 player for Charleston. Broke out as a sophomore, continued superior performance through his senior year, and also was a track star. Huge wing span and 10” hands. Great ball tracking, times his jumps well and has sure hands. Needs a lot of work on his route running - a lot of work. He was completely dominant in D2. The last time I invested a draft pick on a man-among-boys player like he is at a lower level was D3 stud Pierre Garcon who provided good fantasy value for a while. Strachan reminds me a lot of Marques Colston.
Bears WR Dazz Newsome and Jets TE Kenny Yeboah are two other guys who seem to be dropping later than their talent and potential opportunity would warrant.

Strachan will be interesting. In the limited tape i could find, he just looked like a man among boys. Tough to evaluate but he was at least dominant there, like he should have been.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 4:56 am I picked up Colts WR Mike Strachan late. 6’-5” 225 lb D2 player for Charleston. Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
Loving me some Jaret Patterson RB with Washington. Am grabbing him anywhere I have Gibson. McKissic can't carry the load. Their vet bench players (Williams, Barber and Miller-Lol) won't scare anyone either. Patterson is the only UDFA they signed right after the draft.
Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
Not trying to be some Mckissic truther here, but he did help my flex spot immensely on the way to a ship last year so here goes... He had 165 touches (80 rec) with close to 1000 yards and was RB17 in PPR. I agree he can't "carry the load" as a 300 touch guy, but as a RB2 to Gibson? I think he's more than adequate. I also think Gibson owners hope he would take more touches from JDM this year.prinefan wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 6:26 am Loving me some Jaret Patterson RB with Washington. So between these 2 we are probably looking at close to 350ish touches again. Do you think Patterson is the sure RB3 on the team? And do you think in 2022 (since his opportunity seems extremely slim in 2021) he will get 30+% of touches with Gibson still there? It's an honest question as I don't know a ton on Patterson besides him being pretty short and not a great athlete, but he did dominate in college (albeit Buffalo). What's your favorite things about him?

Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
Nothing is a sure thing about a sub 5’-7” RB, but Patterson is thickly built N/S runner, has good vision and decent acceleration, will run through arm tackles, is tough as nails, and has a nasty lateral jump cut that makes defenders look stupid when they try to tackle him and come up with air. His work ethic is supposed to be epic.Jigga94 wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 7:18 amNot trying to be some Mckissic truther here, but he did help my flex spot immensely on the way to a ship last year so here goes... He was not used in the passing game in college, so that aspect is a complete unknown. But he will not shy away from contact and is a very capable pass protector who has no issue going head to head with guys a lot bigger than he is.
I don’t see him as a threat to McKissic at all - that’s not his game. But if his ST coaches can get past his size, he could find a spot as a gunner or the back protector for his punter. I think he’ll need to do that to make the team because while he would offer a good backup for Gibson he won’t be stealing work load from him.
I drafted him in our 6th round of a 14 team IDP draft because I do own Gibson, and I do love watching him run. He is a no-nonsense punch you in the mouth type of RB and that jump cut really is special and worth watching if you find some highlight film of him. His BMI is fine but he is short - you just don’t see power RBs as small as he is in the bigs. I could see coaches falling into a mancrush with him though, especially if his work ethic is as strong as his running style, which is saying something.
Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
Not debating McKissic's value, he helped me a lot last year too. My point was if Gibson goes down, I think Jaret will get at least 40% of the action. Love his college stats (albeit against lesser competition). He's small but still close to 200 lbs. Runs through arm tackles. He's quick, but not fast. He can run inside or out. Definitely under everyone's radar. I'm trusting the same team who discovered Gibson to be correct on this one too. Worst case, my rookie 4th round pick might be cut. Big whoop. Otherwise, I do like his chances.Jigga94 wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 7:18 amNot trying to be some Mckissic truther here, but he did help my flex spot immensely on the way to a ship last year so here goes... Re: 2021 Rookie Sleepers/fliers (POST DRAFT)
I don't think there's enough talk about Chris Evans. He's older (24) but he has all the skills necessary to be the RB2 on a team that needs the help at RB.
Gerrid Doaks in Miami. Gaskin isn't exactly a stud and neither is Doaks, but he's got a chance to do something in that offensive with the lack of talent at the position.
And nobody is saying this, but last year the Rams signed a guy named Xavier Jones as an UDFA. This shifty dude is the perfect height and weight for the position. The Rams were too afraid to let him go to the practice squad for fear of losing him. He played special teams all last year and somehow never got a chance to show his stuff since nobody got hurt and there was no preseason to showcase his talents. When asked all year long who Aaron Donald was impressed by in practice, he said Xavier Jones over and over. I have to guess that the coaching staff would listen to Donald eventually...

I'm going to be drafting him in my deep leagues and I'll try to keep tabs on him in the preseason. This is one of the reasons I don't like Akers so much this year. I think Jones is a secret weapon.

I am way on board with you here. Rostered him all last year with C19 expanded rosters but would have done it anyhow and will through at least the end of this season. If he can just find a way to get on the field somehow...dlf_mikeh wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 11:05 am And nobody is saying this, but last year the Rams signed a guy named Xavier Jones as an UDFA.
