Postby ArrylT » Wed Apr 28, 2021 5:07 pm

Well I cannot wait any longer.

Well obviously I have to and you have to - another just under 24 hours - but those 24 hours may feel like 24 days. :x

Anyways here it is - the excitement building (hopefully for everyone) - and the anticipation palpatable.

The 2021 NFL Draft is about to begin.

Let the chatter begin!

Just for the record and I know it is not going to happen but it would have been fun to see 1 mock that either had the Jaguars trade out of the 1.01 or Trevor Lawrence not be the 1.01

Fields to the Broncos would be pretty cool, I guess.

Let’s see if I can even get half of them right, should be a crazy first night.
I) Lawrence
2) Z.Wilson

3) T.Lance- I know so many are saying it will be Mac Jones, since the QB whisperer, Shanahan, supposedly wants him, but I going with T.Lance. I still can’t understand why you pay up that much to move to 3rd overall to take a QB that you could’ve had later on, anyway, we’ll see soon enough.

4) K.Pitts- Everything that I’m reading/hearing, the Falcons are split on whether they want to go QB, which would lead to more of a rebuild or take K.Pitts and stick with Matt Ryan for another season or maybe two. It will be hard for the Falcons to move Ryan with the contract that he has and I think ultimately they will decide to stick with him and go with K.Pitts.

5) J.Chase- For the longest time, I thought that P.Sewell was a slam dunk to Cincy and they could very well go that route, but I’m now as reports and rumors are coming out, I think they will go J.Chase and then go Oline, someone like D.Radunz in the second round. They could get by with R.Reiff at least for a season, if they decide to go this route.

6) D.Smith- They are rumored to like J.Waddle and that could be the pick here, if they don’t trade again but I think they go with Smith.

7) P.Sewell- I think there’s a decent chance the Lions trade out of this spot, as they have one of the worst rosters in the NFL, but if they keep it, I think they just go BPA and take Sewell. They desperately need WR help but you can get WRs later on and I think if they stay at #7, Sewell would be a great pick.

8) J.Fields- This is where I definitely feel like there could be a trade. Reports from today indicate that the Panthers/Patriots are working on a deal so the Patriots can get to 8 to select J.Fields. Probably giving up #15/ 46 + to get to #8. I could definitely see this happening.

9) M.Jones- First off, I think the Broncos would love for T.Lance or J.Fields to be on the board here. If the 49ers take Jones, like many of the insiders are saying, then I think this pick would be T.Lance, but since Lance & J.Fields are off the board, I think the Broncos would probably trade out of this spot with either the Redskins, Bears, maybe even the Raiders.

10) J.Horn- I’m hearing that the Cowboys are split on who to take between P.Surtain or J.Horn. I honestly don’t think they can go wrong with any 1 player out of Surtain, Horn, M.Parsons or R.Slater to eventually replace Tyron Smith. Ultimately, they need defensive back help and I think they go J.Horn, he’s a little more of a ball hawk than Surtain. It will probably come down to who fits D.Quinn’s defensive scheme better.

What DON'T you want to see happen in tonight's draft?

Postby McCafsteez » Thu Apr 29, 2021 9:14 am

Any players you don't want to see being drafted by an organization?

I'll start:

1) Just traded for Bridgewater so I am hoping DEN doesn't spend their premium 1st on a QB.
2) Chase to the Bengals. Just think there are more ideal spots for him if he is able to fall a little bit.
3) Bears staying put at pick 20. As a Bears fan, I would love to see them move up to grab a QB depending on price.

Really tired of NE dominating the NFL landscape for what seems like forever. I really don't want Mac Jones to go there as he would be ideal in that system.

I DON'T want to see the Bears move up. It will cost too much and they could easily have a top 5 pick next year with their schedule

Seconded that I would like the Bears to stay put and not mortgage any more future for a QB here. We are literally in the situation we are now because of doing EXACTLY that. Play it straight, if we suck like we know we can, we should have a pretty good pick next year (Like when we had #3 overall, which should have just been Watson, rather than the ridiculous trade up to #2 for Trubisky... Seriously has to be one of the most assinine trades in NFL history.)

I don't want a team that gambles in this crazy predraft environment on a player with question marks get burned. ie a Caleb Fairley type prospect.
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

I think the Bears will go OLine or CB if they are smart.
