Swift was a RB2, techinically, but in PPG, yeah. I don't see Etienne as talented, personally, as Swift, or Dobbins, but if it's Carter plus Higgins for ETN type thing, that's way too rich for me. Higgins is worth more than ETN alone for me. Seems you are a lot higher on ETN than me. If most of his owners think this way, he's already priced out of my range.Anteaters wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:59 am I like the trade values StripesfromKC mentioned.
As far as a comp, I see Etienne as a Swift like player. Good talent as a runner and a receiver, but tossed to a bad team. I figure if Swift can turn fantasy RB1 out of his situation, Etienne can too. Of course, Etienne hasn't done it yet so his present value should be below Swift. But I think six weeks into the 2022 season, Etienne will be compared favorably to Swift.
Honestly, I don't know what an real trade for Etienne would look like right now. But when I hear people still putting RB1 and/or 1st+ value on Dobbins, I feel Etienne should be right there with him. I'd definitely buy Etienne from anyone willing to sell him for less than RB1 value.
Some of the trade valuations mentioned focus on trading Etienne for "higher value" targets. Looking at it the other way, I could see offers like Terry McL for Etienne. Or AStB+Fournette/or/KHunt for Etienne. Or MCarter+Higgins/Aiyuk/Jeudy for Etienne. I'd rather have Etienne in all those deals, but I could see situations where the other side works for other owners.
I have a hard time figuring out which side needs a + in a Etienne for Barkley deal.

Wasn't his biggest fan his draft year nor the 2020 class which I thought he was declaring. He was my RB5 in that class before going back to school.
Now with the severe injury and a likely timeshare with Robinson im out.

Its extremely difficult for me to put a value on him. The owner who drafted him and then traded him to me inquired about getting him back and i didnt even counter with anything because im having a tough time figuring out how to price him. My league loves overpaying for RBs so i could probably get a haul if i wanted too, BUT im also very high on Etienne and have been for a while so this is tough for me. A 22 and 23 first would be a fine offer for me (and in my league this is the going rate for RBs, so im not ripping anyone off) but im not sure id do it.
Re: Opinion: Travis Etienne is the best RB prospect since Barkley
Am I the only one that sees ETN as straight line speed that was over drafted because Urban wanted a toy? He is great in space, but he has to get to the space to be effective. I was low on him before, now I can see I am way lower than consensus
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

I don't think anyone who drafted Etienne as a T6 pick is now looking to trade him for anything less than where he was drafted. Anyone who has Etienne is probably holding rather than trade him for peanuts. OTOH, I completely understand anyone who says they don't want to give up what it would take to acquire Etienne.
I would love to hear some real world low-value trades that were completed for Etienne. I know there are bad trades in both directions, but it would surprise me to hear of a lot of completed deals of Etienne for a 2nd, or Etienne for Michael Carter, or Etienne for Mike Williams/Aiyuk.

I can see trading him for Etienne but he just posted a low WR1 season on PPG (WR12) with high target competition and being tied to Burrow
I'd send Carter+Jeudy if someone believes in him still in a heartbeat though

I'm low on him too (if you look back in this thread you'll see that)
I'm however convinced that in active trading leagues half of dynasty is actual player evals and half is game theory/understanding how player values work
Etienne was still prolific in college and has 1st round capital (a really good combo for RB hit rates)
I don't rate him as on par with the 2020 backs talent wise but there is a very high chance his value is higher sometime next season than it is now
At that point I can decide if I've seen enough to change my view of his talent or if I want to sell for higher value than I bought (like with Akers now)

M Carter plus Tee Higgins is definitely top 6 value, though. I mean, if I had ETN I'd move him for Tee Higgins straight up, personally.Anteaters wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:15 pmLike most so-called Buy Low players, the reality is usually a lot different than online gurus.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:35 amSwift was a RB2, techinically, but in PPG, yeah. For team 1 in my sig, which is a non-ppr league, I sent Kittle and the 3.4 for Etienne and Gesicki. I'm in a rebuild, sold to a win now league champ from this year. I felt it was a little light on the value but liked the upside and how it'd fit into competing in 2023. I'm willing to take the risk at this point.Anteaters wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:15 pmLike most so-called Buy Low players, the reality is usually a lot different than online gurus.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:35 amSwift was a RB2, techinically, but in PPG, yeah. Re: Opinion: Travis Etienne is the best RB prospect since Barkley
ETN is way more than just the Straight Line speed narrative you are selling but the over drafted part is pretty legit for a first round RB in General.
In today's NFL, getting explosive players in space is easy so if you are thinking he can't or won't be effective my belief is you are sadly mistaken. I could see him being used sort of like a Deebo or CMC blend with the way he plays the game. That potential is why he is a worthy dynasty asset at this point. Of course there is risk but I am glad I own him in a few leagues.
He is weapon that the team hasn't even taken cover of it's sport car just yet. He should be considered a great buy to take advantage of those that have lost faith for no reason other than injury.

Gave Courtland Sutton
Recieved Etienne and a 2022 2nd
Felt like a steal then and does now as well. I am also in this weird spot where since it was such a good deal i dont want to trade Etienne BUT id be making a massive profit if i did since i got him so cheap. Weird spot to be in.

I haven’t watched the jags during preseason. For those of you who watched ETN, how did he look out there? Did he look like the same player he was in college, or did any of his ability look diminished by the injury? I’m very curious to see what he looks like this year.
