My first year playing dynasty (though 15 years redraft), I took over an orphan team that had two mid-late first round picks.

Drafted the athletic freak out of NC, WR Greg Little.

I also selected RB Delone Carter... Who looked to have the Colts job all wrapped up post-Addai.

I don't remember who I passed on, but missing badly like that set my rebuild back a few years.

2011 the second year of dynasty football. Didn't read any forums or do any scouting at that time

Pick 1.02 grabbed Kendricks, Lance TE STL because I needed a TE. This was ahead of Cam, AJ Green, Cobb, D Murray. Funny thing is that in the fifth round of that draft I grabbed A Hernandez which looked liked a great pick for a couple of years...

I drafted Leshoure, Ryan Williams and Kendall hunter in the same draft.

Leshoure and Williams both suffered season ending injuries a few weeks later.

Your biggest regret in Rookie Drafts?

Postby W90WBA » Wed Mar 24, 2021 2:49 pm

What is your biggest regret in rookie drafts?

Maybe you took someone all the hype was on, who has failed
Maybe you had your choice of 2 players and the one you didn't take has been a stud so far

Mine was at 1.02 I really wanted DK, but thought everyone else would see it as a reach, Jacobs went a 1.01 and so I took Harry at 1.02 because he was everyone else's WR1 and due to be a stud

Don't need me to tell you how that's playing out so far...

So cmon, make me feel a bit better 2 years down the line

2018, pick 1.02 went guice.

It was my first rookie draft, liked what I was hearing about him predraft, didn't put much stock in him falling. In retrospect should have gone Chubb but oh well. To make matters worse, I was offered the 1.03 and 1.08 for the 1.02 but I was so sure about guice I rejected that. Guy at 1.03 wanted Chubb anyways...

Honestly my drafts haven't been terrible or had any historic level misses--usually people ahead of me made the mistakes I was planning to make (JJAW comes to mind)

I guess the closest would be last year after grabbing JT, Dobbins, Mims and Pittman deciding to triple down on a WR in the 3rd in Bryan Edwards over Antonio Gibson because I thought my drafted RBs were safer hits than my drafted WRs

I guess it still has a chance of working but I'd really like that one back

I've been playing a long time so I don't know if it's my worst ever but taking Reagor over Jefferson in my 2nd most expensive league because I thought I already had too many shares of Jefferson was really dumb.

It's the double whammy. Not just picking a (current) bust over a superstar but also the pain of doing it for a stupid reason (hedging) when I believed in JJ more.

 Superstar  Bust

Jury's already in after one season. Expecting a regression to the norm for both but that's another topic

All time worst was sitting on the 1.01 & selecting Charles Rogers . Might be the biggest disappointment ever over Leaf and Fatso QB out of LSU to the Raiders. Hate even speak Jamarcus name.

Needed a WR too so it was a perfect match ... 1.02 ended up being Andre Johnson

Reagor is bad like he was in college. Jefferson is great like he was in college. Not shocking they'd continue to be what they were in college in the NFL. It was a dumb pick for the Eagles and a whiff in fantasy.

Not sure what's hard about that

But for the question looking back at 2019 I had Terry McLaurin as my 3rd round target only for Parris Campbell to fall and for me to move up to the late 2nd round to secure him using that 3rd rounder

Oops

first yr in dynasty I gave up 3 first round picks and a 2nd to move up to #1 and get cant miss wr sammy watkins. I know 3 of my picks I traded became Mike evans and Bechkham and k mack..... I won the league three years later but the talent lost has changed my draft strategy for the rest of my life.... trade picks for proven players. not gambling on the draft.... I wont ever forget that one....

Jim Druckenmiller #1 overall.

25 years later, I know I'll never make a worse pick in a rookie draft.

2020 rookie draft I moved my 2021 1st to jump back into the later 1st (I believe 1.12). I was debating between Ruggs and Herbert (16 team superflex). Guess who I picked.

On the bright side, I ended up acquiring Herbert in a recent trade in that league. Bad news is that I gave up Justin Jefferson in the deal.

I drafted Jermichael Finley as a late round flyer over Jimmy Graham because I already had "enough" shares of Graham in my dynasty & keeper leagues. This was a one PPR league and I regretted that for many years.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
