Last year 16 team league, scoring benefiting WR's (realized this waaaay too late) I had maneuvered myself in 3 1st round picks, 6, 9 & 10.

I had my other dynasty league draft prior to this one and let myself be influenced by others scouting and thoughts in there, so I second guessed my board.

I went with Freeman at 6 (hating that) traded 10 for a move back to 14, S Jax and a 2nd rounder (thought I was at least solidifying that backfield), and then I traded 9 for pick 16 and an additional 1st rounder in 2015. I ended up trading 14 for Jeremey Maclin and a 3rd and took Terrance West at 16 (another decision I regreted).

Pick 7 (right after my Freeman pick) was Devante Adams
Pick 9 was Kelving Benjamin
Pick 10 was ODB

I went in it with 3 picks 6, 9, 10. My original board I had all 3 of those WR's higher than the 2 RB's I took. I changed my view and didn't pay enough attention to the settings, and made 3 pretty bad trades.

I ended up with Freeman, West, S Jax, Teddy B (additional 2nd rounder I got), Telvin Smith (additional 3rd rounder I got), Maclin and pick 16 in this years draft to go with my pick 10. But I missed big. I could have drafted Adams, Benjamin and ODB.

Never again, lesson learned.. I will stick to my rankings unless I change them from my scouting, and I wont overlook settings like that again

Reading this is making it really tough for me to take Gurley/Gordon over Cooper/White. . .

Been doing this awhile. Lots of posts so far from the last few years... time to dig into the old data and show off the mistakes.

2012: Trent Richardson (1.03) and David Wilson (1.09), over Michael Floyd, Alshon Jeffrey, Reuben Randle, TY Hilton
2011: Kendall Hunter (2.01) and Lance Kendricks (2.02) over Randall Cobb, Torrey Smith, Julius Thomas, DeMarco Murray
2010: Mike Williams (1.08) and Montario Hardesty (1.09) over Rob Gronkowski, Demaryius Thomas, Victor Cruz, Jimmy Graham
2009: Shonn Greene (1.10) over Jeremy Maclin
2008: Jonathan Stewart (1.03) over Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Jamaal Charles, Jordy Nelson
2007: Adrian Peterson (1.02) -- finally a good pick!
2006: No first round picks
2005: Cadillac Williams (1.01) over everyone... did get Frank Gore (1.08) and Aaron Rodgers (1.09) right though
2004: Julius Jones (1.12) -- eh, not great but doesn't look like I missed out on anyone better
2003: Onterrio "The Whizzinator" Smith (1.01) over Andre Johnson, Willis McGahee, Larry Johnson, Jason Witten, Anquan Boldin
2002: No first round picks
2001: Freddie Mitchell (1.11) over Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson/Ochocinco
2000: Sylvester Morris (1.12) over Laverneus Coles

In conclusion, I am awful at drafting because I always pick the hype-train guys. On the bright side, I manage to compensate through good trading and free agent/waiver pick-ups. Would still be better off just trading my rookie picks away every year.

Sounds like we did the same thing. You're in the league with me where I took Sankey. I did turn around and flip Sankey/Woods for Martin before the season even started, but that didn't turn out any better.

Neither of us tend to have rookie picks very often, but that's the last time I get blinded by need in a rookie draft again. I'll admit that I was low on Benjamin/OBJ during rookie draft season last year, so I probably still wouldn't have drafted them if I passed on Sankey. Most likely I would have taken Hyde or Robinson, but either of those would still have been better than Sankey.
Yep, I remember that well. I suck at this whole rookie thing. I think I'll stick to buying old guys

Mark Ingram at 1.01.
Gio over Bell at 1.04
Kendall Wright over Torrey Smith I think was one. I vaguely remember that though and might mot have the right years. But remember passing on Smith

Last years rookie draft in a 10 teamer I held the 2.01, OBJ was falling......and was taken at 1.10, right in front of me. Got Latimer at 2.01, and expect him to do well this year, but OBJ, damn.

I think I can beat all of these....traded picks 1.2 and 1.8 for Cordarrelle Patterson and a 2nd. Not only did the other team get Mike Evans, but he also beat me in the championship game

16 team, salary cap, IDP league

Last season (our inaugural season) had 1.14 in our rookie draft. I had already taken Jordan Mathews at 1.03 and was looking to acquire more assets while targeting Ryan Shazier.

I traded back from 1.14 to 2.02 and acquired a 2015 1st round pick. I ended up getting Ryan Shazier at 2.02, but 1.14 ended up being OBJ.

Thought I needed a QB to replace Romo down the line. Drafted Manziel right ahead of Jeremy Hill.

last year i had picks 1.7, 1.8, and 1.10 in one league. at 1.7 i took jordan matthews and love him and the pick. at 1.8 i was between sankey and obj but decided to go sankey cause i figured obj had the better shot at lasting till 1.10 to take him and sankey gave me a good wr/rb combo. obj went 1.9 and i missed out

another big mistake in one league few years back i for whatever reason realy liked russel wilson and it being a 2 qb league i had an eary 2nd rd grade on him. i passed him up twice at 2.4 and 2.14 thinking i could get him with my 3.7....he went 3.6 and the rest has been killing me inside for a few yrs now

Tavon Austin at 1.1 is crushing me for now. I am still hoping he's not Ginn 2.0.
