Chubb has also never averaged under 5 ypc in his career, much less under 4. That includes with the 2018 Browns line, which was probably not even on par with what Jacobs was working with last year. Jacobs is fine, but his talent is closer to replacement level than it is to Chubb's level IMO. That's not a diss on Jacobs, it's just recognizing that Chubb is special and guys like Jacobs and Javonte Williams (another one I see a lot) shouldn't be comped to him.Ice wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:39 amI would counter that the Browns had probably the best O Line in football last year and the Raiders were probably in the mid 20's as a quality run blocking line.ColdZealDonkeyStrike wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 11:05 amChubb is still an RB1 despite a non ideal role, but that's because he's Nick Freakin' Chubb, probably the best pure rusher in Football. To be an RB1 in a split role without receiving work, you have to either be a Nick Chubb level talent, or be on a crazy good offense and get a bunch of goal line work.
Jacobs is not either of those things. He has only been good for fantasy due to volume to date. He's the anti-Nick Chubb.
The Raiders have basically blown up their line to get better this year. We will find out soon enough if they have improved but O lines matter to all RB's at this level.
Jacobs has much better talent IMO than you are suggesting.
Bottom line, if the RB is special, you can toss out situation. Jacobs is a good rb, but he's not special, and his situation kinda sucks.
