I don't disagree with Paulsen in that LF may be getting overvalued with this move, but he wasn't making much of a case for Jones as a sure thing either.

"So all is not lost, RoJo truthers. Are all those shares you’ve collected worth lot less now than they used to? Yes, your rosters are going to look bad for a while, but maybe, just maybe, he holds off LF and remains Tampa Bay’s starter." - John Paulsen

Maybe, just maybe isn't super confidence inspiring.

There's a lot of what-ifs in that 6 page thread.

How do we think the touches play out the rest of the year? Although a very small margin, Fournette out touched Jones in his first game back. I am guessing it will be a pretty even split rest of year.

I still think each game the rest of the way Fournette will earn a bigger and bigger share of the touches until he is at least 2-1 more than Jones. They are both probably about equal in terms of rushing, but Fournette is just enough better as a receiver and blocker to win the workload. This is of course barring anymore injuries.

Doubt it. Jones is still the guy, until Arians says otherwise, and I don't think Fournette is all that good. Not good enough to take that amount of work away, anyway. Jones has been running really well this year, especially the 3 games before the Raiders game. Seems like wishful thinking.

Not sure what to think of the Fournette/Rojo split, but I do think it's reasonable to assume LF's prospects past this year are still promising if he goes to a new team.

I believe it's based all on gameplay. If RoJo isn't getting it done then LF will get the touches. If LF isn't getting it done then to RoJo. It'll be a mess going forward though.

I don't know about this. Can Fournette stay healthy?

As soon as RoJo misses a block or two, it's anyone's guess. Last week he was benched for an entire quarter for a missed assignment.

Fournette - what to do with him

Postby Wizard » Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:04 am

So I've got Fournette in 3 leagues which is most of my teams. I thought after last season he would be a RB1 or high RB2, then the Jags dumped him and he's been totally unreliable the whole season! I'm trying to figure out what to do with him now. He's having a pretty good playoff run but its not like he's done anything special, he's done OK and had a few touchdowns. I think he looks slow, not explosive, just meh.

So here's the question(s). Try to sell him now since he's had a decent playoff run? Hold him and hope he has an even better run, then sell. Or hold and hope he gets a new contract with a new team, then sell (or keep). If you think he should be sold, what would you expect to get back for him?

Any advice appreciated!

I have him in 2 leagues myself, i'll be holding and hoping he signs in a decent landing spot and be looking to sell at the first signs of positive buzz.

I kind of want the guy to take the 2021 season off and try to get right.... he won't though.

You gotta hold him until free agency, but I think best-case scenario he will be a throw-in on a package deal. It's sad, really.

He’s always been a subpar player in an elite FF situation. Odds of that striking twice are low. I think he’s become the worst FF type:

Not good enough to get value back or to start
Too much hope to cut

Yup, if you can get something for him take it and grab someone with real upside

This is definitely it. Own him in a couple leagues and have probed for trades and I think the most anyone would give up is two 2nds. Might just have to be a hold and maybe he will have some kind of late career resurgence.

If Legarrette Blount could be so successful late in his career maybe Fournette can too. You would think he could do more. He's definitely more physically gifted but less durable and seems to still see himself as the guy he was drafted to be and not what he's actually done
