Re: Championship week collusion?
A lot of people busting the OPs balls here but I know all of us would be just as frustrated if we were in an empire league going for the big pot and people are openly talking about collusion to make sure we don't win. That is some grade A BS.

Re: Championship week collusion?
If I was in a league that played in week 17, had no trade deadline, and an emperor pool, I would be expecting owners to try to prevent me from winning.
If I was in that league, maybe I would jokingly reference something In the chat just to troll you. But you would know that it’s meant to be taken in jest.
But I can guarantee you that I would be privately chatting with your opponent to try to beef him up for the match. But I would be asking for a fair return on whether pieces I give him, which means that him and I would both be independently playing (trading) to win and there’s nothing collusive about that.

Re: Championship week collusion?
Been there...had it happen to me in the past.
To the poster asking if someone would really lose a trade to prevent someone from winning...yep, it can happen in an empire league. Had it happen to me in an empire championship game against me a few years back. Pot was up to $2,500 or so, 1/3 paid for B2B, balance paid for 3 straight. I won B2B, then the third year when I went for the three peat, I had someone (3rd place finisher) trade four starters to a championship opponent for one draft pick and an IR'd player one half hour before the Sunday games started week 16.
What was stupid about it was that I knew the guy was looking to move those players and I had actually made two offers of higher value (including a mid-to-late 1st round pick - the guy accepted a late 2nd) to him on that Friday which he ignored. Only reason I made the offers was 'cause I knew these guys were going to pull something...and they did.
The trade was so obviously one sided the Commish reversed it right away. I didn't even have to ask. He just jumped in and said "this is bullshit" and flipped it. Won the 'ship.
There was a huge argument, about 3/4 of the rest of the league agreed with the commish, the only ones against him were the two idiots involved. These two guys claimed they thought the rosters re-set after the empire pot was won...both had really good teams, and didn't want to lose their teams. But apparently reading comprehension wasn't their strength as the rules clearly spelled out in the first paragraph no less, that the rosters stayed intact, the empire pot was just a side pot, didn't affect the future of the league. Was kind of a bizarre argument.
After that, I don't play in leagues without a trade deadline at least a week before playoffs start.
The skill in the game is being able to build a team and depth over the first 11-12 weeks. No skill in doing a championship week trade. that's for chumps. Go with who brought you to the dance.

Thing is I was merely asking how people would take action. There are people getting more bent out of shape than I am! Thank you to everyone that had actual input because there were many conflicting points of view and I appreciate the insight.

Lol the dude that used quotes saying I called people losers when I didn’t shouldn’t be saying anything about a spin. Just a suggestion don’t use quotes when you’re not directly quoting someone, not how grammar works. You can spin this all you want but you commented on my marital relationship and picked a fight that’s on you bro. But hey you keep on getting butt hurt about stuff that has literally nothing to do with you good luck in life being like this.

I see about 50/50 between leagues that re-set rosters (do another startup draft) or even terminate with the empire pot is won fully vs. leagues that just continue as is like a normal dynasty league but regenerating the pot after the empire pot is won. I've seen a couple where there is an option for everyone except the empire pot winner to keep their team as is or do a dispersal after the empire pot is won as well.
IF any shenanigans happen, in my experience, it will always happen in the first kind where teams are re-set. Teams conspiring and colluding to keep their teams intact. The two guys involved thought it was that type of league which was why they did what they did.

I didn't pick a fight, I simply picked up on you seeming to imply that your leaguemates 'don't have a life' (to which I took as you implying they are 'losers' for lack of a better term) because they were talking shop on a Saturday night. I thought it interesting for the reasons stated. If you weren't implying that then I guess I misunderstood what you were trying to get across with the comment.PigeonBoys wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 1:03 pmLol the dude that used quotes saying I called people losers when I didn’t shouldn’t be saying anything about a spin. You're obviously a very busy person though, so we can probably drop this unnecessary discussion here. Good luck next year in your continuing empire league. Glad to hear nothing below board occurred.
