Etienne must land in the right system, such as SF. If he does, he is 1.01. If it's like a BUF he slides.

Don’t stress that pick is moneyrealmacaroni wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 3:13 pmSure. I got him at 1.4/RB2 in my 12t SF early ranks (team in sig). I expect quite a lot to change before my ff draft in May so, ya know, whatev. I also don’t pick until 2.2 so i doubt I’ll even sniff him in my draft.cantguardjake wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 2:07 pmThanks for your contribution to the thread, do you have any thoughts on Etienne?realmacaroni wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 2:04 pm ^is it just you two same guys bickering in all the threads or are there a bunch of you doing it?

Agreed, I’m happy with the 2.2 and 2.10 in my SF draft. I’m just saying there are a lot of guys, Etienne being one, that I can basically lump in the “no way they fall to rd2 tier” lol

I saw a mock somewhere this week of Buffalo taking a RB in the first still seems weird. Don't remember if it was Harris or Etienne.SoftwoodGrampian wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 9:02 pm Etienne must land in the right system, such as SF. If he does, he is 1.01. If it's like a BUF he slides.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
RB to BUF in Rd 1 makes no sense. They don’t have any cap space and will have a distinct need at LB if they can’t sign Milano who is a FA. They also have needs at ROT and a CB.Pullo Vision wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 10:59 amI saw a mock somewhere this week of Buffalo taking a RB in the first still seems weird. I'll have to check but that was my assumption, seemed like a good place for some of these arguments to move to so they don't derail threads.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
I don't see SF spending the draft capital it will require to land Etienne (probably their 2nd round pick, maybe higher) but I do agree that if he landed there he would pretty easily be RB1 for me and strong chance at #1 non-QB, although it will be tough to pass on Chase. He would be a much more talented version of Mostert in that system and rack up yards fairly easily.SoftwoodGrampian wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 9:02 pm Etienne must land in the right system, such as SF. I drafted Akers ahead of guys like swift because I believed he had the highest potential in this class even above guys like JT because of his ideal size and his amazing pass catching in college, I did understand he would have a lower floor than swift etc but I like to take a punt.
Do we think it was just the usual rookie rb not trusted to pass protect etc plus Cam being raw as he was or do people expect that to continue ala Mixon, a great pass catching in college who gets treated like a 2-down thumper for his career?
I'm trying to work out how I value him going into next year as my league is fairly heavy on the offseason trading and I like to get involved (I'm not thinking of traded him, but I don't have a no trade list, everyone is fair game).
There's a Cam thread there

And 2020 RB class thread here
Not sure what he has to do with this thread though.

I skimmed the name and thought I had the 2020 rookie tier thread, I'll delete, this is why I shouldn't be on here whilst working.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:24 pmviewtopic.php?f=5&t=200232AussieMate wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:17 pm I wasn't sure where to put this as I don't think there is a Cam Akers thread anywhere, but what do people make of his lack of work in the passing game/3rd downs.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
That's what I was thinking, but it definitely seems like Harris has passed him, at least for now, pending workouts and the draft. I'm not sure where Chase and Smith end up going in relation to him. I'll happily snap up Etienne.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
I think Harris passed him because his floor is just higher before workouts because he’s big and can play all 3 downs. Even if he runs like molasses he could be very easily comped to David Montgomery or James Conner.
If Etienne weighs in light and runs slow, the comps get bad quickly.
I still like Etienne, I think there’s some tape-grinder nonsense going on about a very successful collegiate back. I might end up having him ahead of Harris, but if he weighs in at 202 and runs like 4.57, I’m not going to end up with any shares. I don’t think that’s the likely to be the case, but we’ve seen guys just look like better athletes than they were in situations like Clemson.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
So what do you think about the RB age cliff w/relation to Harris? I have him borderline off my board (not quite) because he'll be almost exactly 23 and a half years old for kick off in September, while Etienne is around 9 months younger than him if memory serves.
I've been a big RB age cliff guy, especially w/the most recent guys all hitting the wall as they passed age 26 (Bell, Gurley, Johnson, and Zeke, and Gordon both look less than what they looked like 18 months ago (in fairness, Zeke's splits in '20 w/Dak versus anyone else are totally nuts). Part of me wants to respect the fact that the RB age studies have a ton of data connected to a complete epic ---- show RB drought from 2009-2014 where there were six consecutive bad classes that not surprisingly artificially drove down the production curves for RB's because the vast bulk of them were so god awful compared to the much superior '15, '17, '18 and '20 classes (and '16 did have Zeke and Johnson).
I don't want to be overrating the age cliff if the data is a real mess because of the crazy RB drought that was 2009-2014, but at the same time, the classes that broke the run of horror at the position are already showing signs of living up to the cliff's warnings (the previously mentioned guys).
What do you think about the cliff? I've generally flipped RB's before their rookie contract's final season is over, and typically before it even starts because of the cliff, but I seriously wonder if I'm overreacting to something that may be based on possibly unreliable data and my own paranoia.

Re: 2021 Rookie Tiers
There's definitely an age cliff for RBs in general, and Harris' age is a big hill to overcome for his overall career outlook, but for us we should really only care about rookie RBs for their rookie contract window and his will end at about the same time as the "age cliff" anyway. So probably just draft him, use him for 2-3 years and flip him, don't draft RBs hoping for a 6-10 year stud outside of the very rare Saquon Barkley type prospects (who are no guarantee of longevity either).
